We just got back today from a mini vacation to Gatlinburg Tenn. If you haven't been, and can go, then you should. It is so beautiful up there in the Great Smoky Mountains. We did a little hiking and a lot of sight seeing. Also visited an aquarium and air musuem. There are a lot of tourist things to do in the town of Gatlinburg itself, but if you go up on the mountain it's very peaceful and beautiful. If you'd like to see some picture you can check out my outdoor recreation blog. You can get to the link from my profile page.

My family goes to Gatlinburg ALL the time. It's a very unique place to visit. It's always been a tradition in my family to go to the top of the needle and spit :D I also like to go to the Ripley's attractions and the motion theater. I love that town and can't wait to go back

Yeah, with people on mylot being from all over the world I'm sure alot of you won't be able to go to Gatlinburg. Unless you are independently wealthy..lol. I'm sure there are wonderful places to visit where you are from also though!

I've been to Gatlinburg, it's a very beautiful area. Many years ago when I first got married, we camped the Appalachian mountains from where it starts down towards Georgia all the way up to New York state. My favorite part was up in the Smokey mountains. No matter where you go the scenery is wonderful and unforgettable! I still have my pictures I took from the trip. We hiked all over and on one of our hikes we went on Looking Glass mountain. I would dearly love to go back to this area again and scout around!! So serene and beautiful there :-)

Gosh, I sure wouldn't have the stamina to hike all that like I did in my mid 20's lol. (Age happens hahaha.) Still, it was one of the best trips I ever had. Wish I could remember the name of that waterfall we hiked to there. We spent lots of time going up this mountain just to see it, and they were so dry then that there wasn't any water going over the waterfall (I was SO disappointed lol)

I know what you mean about age. When I was in my 20s I only had one health problem to deal with, now I have many many more! It sure makes it hard to enjoy things the way I want, but I still do what I can. I tell my son to get out and enjoy life while hes young because you never know what's going to happen later in life!

I've never heard of Looking Glass mountain. I'll have to check it out. We love hiking and are always looking for new places to try. Of course, we already know of so many that we'll never get through them all! My husband would love to hike the whole Appalachian trail..lol. Unfortunately we neither have the time not the stamania. We have hiked little parts of it though. I hope you get to go back and visit Gatlinburg soon.

I used to live in Asheville North Carolina and we would go there every year around Christmas time and look at all the lights they put up. It is a very nice place to visit.

This was only the second time I have been. The first was on our 7th anniversary 10 years ago. This was our son's first visit. The other time we went in November and they had all the lights up. It is really pretty that time of year. We would love to take our son back around then if possible.
