anybody join permission research?

i get online offering to join permission research. it's not a paid survey site. it just offers free software, free screen saver and other occasional prizes. its purposes are to get information about our internet activity. so it asks me to install a software which monitors my internet activity. i wonder if installing the kind of software is safe for our pc an privacy, though the site assures it. do you have any experience with the site? pls share it here. thx in advance for responding
