The signs are out again on my street, from the council warning people about "illegal dumping".Even the signs are chained.People round here just put there unwanted stull on the street, including furniture. There are quite a ot of apartments round my way, and I gues a lot are rentals, and as people moove on they just leave behind. Now in all fairness to the council they do a free pick up for rubbish, you just have to call and they tell you when to put it out. It's for all the big stuff you cann't put in the trash, there are also plenty of charities. But I guess on the funny side, most of the stuff gats picked up.It was only last week that I saw a great dinning room set, a few places up.In great condition, small table, but only 3 chairs. And I have to admit I've found a few nice things over the years. And it's not just this area a know someone who got an almost new bar fridge this way.I guess I just find it odd how people get rid of there stuff,

we are the throw away generation and living in apartments you often find really good furniture thrown out to save the cost of moving van fees. we got a microwave oven that way and a half dozen chairs and a desk chair for me for my computer' all were free and had been tossed out by people moving out. ' finders keepers. I also found a very expensive set of dish ware the same way. not chipped or broken but just put out by someone who was moving.

It also shows that people have money, and they can even have the luxury of throwing away things, when they become inconvenient. If I were in your country, I would ve started a shop which buy used furnitures and stuffs. In my country, there are plenty of shops like that and things are always recycled. Its used by the rich first, and when dumped to these shops, will be bought by the middle class families and then it goes to the poor.

most people dont do that around here that much, but garage sales are the big thing here and people get rid of stuff that way and it is a cheap way to pick up furniture and the like or else they donate it to a thrift store.

I lived on a sailboat for years. When I had to move ashore, I had no furniture and no money to buy anything. I made several large bookcases for all of my books, but I still needed furniture for the Apt. So I decorated in Early American Weekly Trash Day! That was several years ago and because some of the stuff was really nice stuff I still have it. I have replace the junky stuff with new. I have to say though it got me through the rough transition time. Shalom~Adoniah
