My cat is into: Plastic Bags?!

Well I just saw beautyqueen26's discussion about her cat and keyboard (LOL!) so this made me think of our main cat, Buzz. We picked him up from the pound as a kitten; he was the one who clawed us from inside his cage and purred like crazy when we came near...hence the name, Buzz. He has this thing...with plastic. EVERY PLASTIC BAG in the house has Buzz teeth-holes in the edge of it. It's like he was raised up on plastic or maybe he chewed the liner of his litter box as a kitten maybe, at the pound. Anyway, this is a really funny habit of his that I thought I'd share with you guys....anyone else have stories like this?

Haha does yours begin by licking the plastic? Sometimes I can stop my cat in time to save the bag he's going for if he's still just licking the edge of it. One of the cutest and most annoying habits ever.

My cats put holes in the liner of their litter box! I don't know why but they seem to love that thing so then all the litter falls through! They love to play with plastic bags just for the noise of them!

Dinglebeary, my Maine Koon cat got tangled up in a plastic bag when I first brought him home...he was jet propelled through the house until I could catch him and remove the bag. To this day, 4 years later, he cannot stand the sound of a plastic bag. Khuay, my flame point Siamese has this thing about paper and card board. He shreds paper and card board. If he can get his claws into a roll of paper towels he is in heaven!!! Unfortunately the house looks like we had a major snowfall when he finishes with the roll but he has a ball attacking it. I am sure he had to be a secret agent in a previous life!!! No envelope, package or piece of paper is safe around him...they are opened, read (I'm sure) and shreded! LOL. My cats also love paper bags and what few boxes that Khuay doesn't shred. They love to hide in them and attack anyone who goes by. I had one cat that would nap in them and he'd get a big bang out of our jumping out of our skin when we would kick the sack and he'd still be in it.

is that safe to let your cat play with a plastic bag? the cat might suffocate...that is what they told kids who played with plastic bags. and animals dont know any better... my late and current cat love paper bags. sleep inside. and just sit there for a long time like a cave or den. a paper bag is like a free toy for animals. animals like kids, dont need expensive toys...they prefer to play with junk...paper bags, bugs, your hair, you, etc. they like to explore, run around and jump and climb, and feel content with their simple lives.

My 2 year old male, Oliver plays with them. He almost gets in them then rolls around the floor. Then he runs like a nut and goes back to playing with it.

I totally know what you're talking about. My cat does the same. Thankfully she only goes for the plastic bags that are on the floor. And ever since we discovered she does that, we keep all the plastic bags as high as possible. Doesn't work everytime, but still. It's something. I'm just worried that my cat could get sick at some point...

That is interesting about your cat br3nn. Now our cat hates plastic bags. If they are laying around she walk around it like it is going to attack her. But if you pick one up she is gone like bullet. To get her to stop doing something like clawing on the furniture she runs the min she sees or hears one. She only claws when she want some attention because when told to stop she does. She has scratching pot too.
