Warren Buffet unseats the MicroSoft Founder Bill Gates from his reign for 13-years as the richest man on Earth. Warren Buffet's net fortune is $62 billion. On the second spot is the Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim with an estimated fortune of $60 billion. While Bill Gates dropped to the 3rd spot with $58 billion fortune.

And that after Warren Buffet gave Bill Gates several billion for his foundation? Wow! But what's a billion here or a billion there, right?

I believe that was because Microsoft price had been affected by the recent volatility and on the other hand Berkshire had been making the relatively correct investment decision probably on commodities or hedging. Well, that my guess. Cheers.

Yes, the Microsoft price has something to do with it, lol, and the fact that Buffett never invested in Microsoft;)

Hi,
You are right. I hear some news saying that Bill Gates will be leaving Microsoft in June 2008 which is this month. He will be concentrating on his Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
So, very soon, Bill Gates will not be on the Top 3.
I think that Warren Buffett is very good in stock market investing. So, he will be able to become No. 1.

Yea,I know.It was not that much publicised.I just saw that a few months ago in a small column of a newspaper.
But,definitely his record of 13 years as the highest man on earth would stand for a long time.It would take much more years to overcome that defeat held by Microsoft tycoon Bill gates.
The most important thing to note that most of the people in the billion dollars list started from scraps,and were not traditional rich people.
That means anyone and everyone who utilizes his brain well,can be a rich man.
