I got a letter in the mail today with a check for $21,800. It sure looks real. There was a 1 800 number and I called it and it was from a bank at least that is what the recording said. The letter said it is an installment check from some company. I have no idea what it is for.It does not tell me to cash it or nothing. So how do I find out if it is real? A person could do alot of things with that kind of money.

Sounds fishy to me. I once recieved a check like that, for about $100. However the fine print said that if I cashed the check, I'd be agreeing to sign up for some service, I think it was a cable or phone type service. I didn't want that.. so I destroyed the check.

For your sake, I hope it's real! To be honest, though, it sounds like one of those money order scams. I'd think, if you don't know what it's for, it's either fake or wasn't meant for you. Try to get in touch with the company, research the company name online, and take it to a local bank and ask the manager what they think.
