hood? Well we heard the music so I told my hubby to grab $2 off the desk. It was my daughters first treat from the truck. She was so excited. My hubby came in disappointed. He said the driver and family members weren't very friendly. I guess he was hoping for a nicer 1st experience for her. What has your experience been, harsh or friendly?

a business that caters to children ought to be cheerful. where has all the cheer in the world gone to? I do believe that the leave it to beaver shows were realistic - the few that did not have such a life at least aspired towards it - television and other entertainment does not train us towards friendliness and families are all split apart, either by demographs or work hours... it is so sad. the poor children.

My children will not have an experience of buying from the ice cream truck, as far as I am concerned. I know that we all have fond memories of hearing the music, and then begging mom for a quarter so we could go and get a popsicle. But I have other memories. I have memories of living in not so good neighborhoods where the ice cream truck sold more than just ice cream, get what I'm saying? Also, as a child it was drilled into my head that when you get something off the ice cream truck, you are not only paying for that treat, you are paying for the gas to bring it to you. With the way gas prices are nowadays, I have to say that I can't afford a two dollar popsicle that is still fifty cents at the corner store. Maybe I am being a little cynical, but that is the way I feel. My kids will have memories of going to the store, but they will not be buying off the ice cream truck.

I haven't bought off a icecream truck in years likeclose to 20 years. We don't love in a area that has one. But boy watch us get excited when the Schwan's truck comes buy with their goodies we are like to kids in a ice cream shop. I am sorry that your daughters first experience wasn't such a good one. A ice cream truck can make you so excited then disappointed all in less then a minute especially if they don't have your favorites. Mine have usually been okay, except for not having my choices after I have salivated over the htought of one..lol

My kids have never gotten ice cream from an ice cream truck. I vaguely remember getting ice cream from the ice cream truck when I was a kid. I don't really remember it enough to know if they were rude to me or not.

I have what might be unrealistic expectations of ice cream truck drivers. I expect them to smile and be bright eyed when the kids show up. I think they should 'like' kids. In fact, I think what I should be worried about is them liking kids too much. But, then again, I do not really buy ice cream from those trucks. I can go to the store and buy more stuff for cheaper. So, I do not see any reason to spend money at one of those trucks driving around the neighborhood if the driver isn't friendly. Guess I'll have to test out the driver in my area sometime.

Ours comes around sporadically but always around dinner time. Yeah, I really want to spoil my kids' appetite, lol. The one time my husband went to see what they had to offer they weren't exactly friendly either. It was more like, make your decision already right from the get go. They were hopelessly overpriced, too, more than double of what they charge at the gas station up the street. So that's where the kids go and they get to pocket the difference. If they hear the ice cream truck all we get to hear now is when we can take them again to get ice cream from the gas station. They like to see their piggy bank grow;)

Well it's been a long time since I've gone to the truck and bought one for myself and for my family. But the last time I went the people were pretty nice I guess. I haven't eaten any ice cream from the truck in a while. Right now with all the financial problems we are having it's even harder to spend money on the truck. Hopefully next time both of them will have a better experience.

We no longer have an ice cream truck. I remember when I was little and I would hear the music of the ice cream truck and I would go running! My 5 year old daughter has never seen an ice cream truck she thinks the Schwans guy is the ice cream truck.

I have many good childhood memories of the ice cream truck. However, we now live in a rural area so they do not come this far out from town.

Awwwwe! That is so sad for her! We have a really nice guy that comes through our neighborhood. The only thing I don't like, is that he comes through our area at dinner time. He has been making a 2nd trip around lately, after dinner.
