Did you choose natural childbirth or a c-section? Pain killers or not?

Natural or C-section? - why? - The birth of your baby is a very sacred act - what did you find important?

I was able to have all of my children naturally but I was induced. I also chose not to have any painkillers during my labour and delivery. I was lucky enough to not have to have a c-section and I must say that I would not choose to have a c-section. I also respect others wishes and so I am interested in what you chose - natural or a c-section? What lead you to your final decision?

Well I have two children. Both were natural childbirth. However, I learned my lesson with my second child and opted for NO pain killers but I did have and epidural that haunts me till this day, 14 years later (back pain). After all when I had my first daughter I was given something for pain a little TOO late in the birthing process and I was half asleep when I pushed her out and when they gave her to me to hold for the first time. It was not pleasant.

The epidural sounds painful! The actual putting it in place looks ouchy when I have seen it on tv programs and then the horror stories I have heard of back pain after wards is tremendous! I can't believe that you still have pain from your epidural - you poor thing. The things we do as mothers!

I definitely agree that the "spinals" I had for my C-sections has caused me alot of back pain. With 4 children by C-sections (not by choice), my back pain gets worse and worse over the years!!

I had a natural birth with an epidural. I was in labor for 12 hours and after 8 I decided it was enough of pain and gave in. I would never have a c-section unless the doctor would say that I need it for the sake of the baby, other wise I think that natural birth is what we were intended to do, and that is the way out children should be born.

I did have some pain meds in my iv when I was induced with my son. They were horrible, and my husband had them to stop it within just a few minutes, because it didn't do anything for the pain, just made me puke until I couldn't anymore, and even then, I still had dry heaves with every contraction. By the time it was finally time to push, the medicine had completely worn off, so I felt everything. When I have the next baby, I plan on going completely natural if at all possible. I almost ended up with a c-section with my son, but luckily he was born before we had to go through that. I did a lot of research while I was pregnant, just in case, though. I'm really hoping I can have any future kids naturally, too, though!

I have two children. They both were natural and I had an epidural with both. With my first it wasnt bad at all. It took five minutes and the only thing I felt was the first needle to numb my back. The second one is a totally different story. I could feel the needle moving around in my back. That was horrible I was screaming at the anithiesologist(sorry about sp)!

well..i have two wonderful daughters and i must say that when i had my first one i have lost waters the day before of her birth so the doctors decided to induce herbirth. she came out naturlly after they did their job with some medicine they gave me.it wasn't my fault. i would have preferred not to have any other's help but it happened. my secon time was easier and she was born naturally.that's all.

C-section. I'm a very small woman and didn't want to risk my DD's life and mine during childbirth. My OB actually suggested I seriously consider a c-section, which I was planning on doing anyway. I've never been a huge fan of pain. I did go into labor earlier than they though and I was in labor for a couple hours before my OB got to the hospital where I was and she did the c-section. My DD was born happy and healthy and I didn't have a hard recovery time at all. I was relatively pain free after the c-section and was up and walking around in short steps later that night and into the next day.

I was also very lucky I had all my children the natural way.most of the time I had to get induced because I had a cone biopsy done so I don't dialate the way I should.I choose natural because I'm afraid to get cut open and I also chose to have no pain medicine because I didn't want any medicine to affect the baby.

I dont think here we are able to choose to have a c-section if there is no medical reason for it (except for those who are rich!) though if I could choode I certainly would never choose a c-section over natural childbirth. My daughter was born naturally and although it was a very long labour I am thankful that it was natural as it felt more real. It may be the only time I experience childbirth and Im glad I experienced it fully.

I had both of my daughters naturally and had the epidural. I am small and small as my daughters both were I had to be cut for both of them to be born, so going for the epidural (considering there was a knife near my child's head) was the best option in my opinion. Last ting I wanted to do was jump at the wrong moment when the doc was cutting down there.
