why do some filipinos dont like manny pacquiao

I am sure they have their reasons, but sometimes, I can't understand why other Filipinos don't like Manny. Sure, he may have personality flaws and all that crap, but pleaassee....let us at least be united in such things. I am not sure if it is jealousy or crab mentality, but let us face it, I am when another Filipino could give the country the honor that Manny has given the Philippines. Others don't bet for him, but that is okay, because they are gambling. but there are really those who don't like him at all, like it is a personal thing. and they are not even betting. So whatever people say, Manny is a modern day hero. (just to make it clear, I have never betted on any of Manny's fights) what about you? are you proud of manny pacquiao?

good day.I'm proud of him as a honorable fighter but I do wish him to lessen his political friends. To distance himself from dirty politician which our fake president being one of them and her legions of corrupt and lying politicians. if he can do that he can have my admiration of him as a filipino.

I like Manny Pacquiao... but i think the main reason why some people do not like him is because... he is closely associated with politicians... it is so clear that they are just using him for their on benefit... and they even convinced Manny to run as congressman during the last election... and that did not go right... but i think it is a good thing that he lost... it gave him more time to focus on his boxing career...

I was one of Pacquiao supporters. I love watching the way he fought. Yet, yeah, you are right there are other Filipino's who don't like Manny, specially whey he run into a politics. And I was also dislike his decision that time. Philippines is then getting popular when it comes to boxing, so why do they didn't like Manny in the first place, we should be proud instead.

The reason is that you cannot pleased everybody. Each person has their own characteristics and attitude. I myself like pacquiao but I dont like him when he enters the politics. I believe he only fits in the ring not in politics.

i am always proud to those who bring pride and joy to the philippines. all people are not perfect. we always have our weaknesses and bad traits. it's part of being human. i always think that filipinos have this crab mentality that we can never let go off. why not just be happy for someone? that's easier to do that put a person down. anne

his achievements are undoubtedly good, and he does make a day or two of a crime free philippines, bnecause all are watching him... what i dont like about him is that sometimes he is too boastful. and of course he allows himself to be used by all these politicians.. i used to like him.. super. but i hated him now that he is always seen with chavit singson... that guy's just going to use him like what he did to erap and will drop him like a hot potato when he is through with him. i hope manny sees that and will not allow the limelight get into his head.

i am proud of manny pacquiao, giving such a great honor in our nation... thus, he's a man who is a great fighter and a family man... i think its not with the crab mentallity thing, it is only the impression of every individual to a certain person no matter what is the position in the society of that person. you can't please everybody to be his followers because we have different interests and likes... its a personal opinion of the other person so i think we should respect that...

I have not heard anything negative about him today. But I have some reason why I would hate him. His being too close to some political personalities makes his image a bit of a mystery. Maybe because he has gained much support from them? I think if he would just concentrate on his career he would have a much better reputation, But right now, I am pretty happy for his success on his chosen career. I am pretty sure the rest of the country is.

Of course I'm proud of Manny's achievements. Not only is he an inspiration for many Filipinos through his rags to riches story, he also remains down to earth and very jolly. What I don't like about his is that he seems to be spending too much money. I don't care how much he makes but it seems to me that he should be a little more frugal. In his profession, he can die anytime so he has to be careful with how he lives his lifestyle. Anyway, I also don't think of him as a hero. Despite claiming to fight for the Filipinos, I think he's really fighting to win for himself! Heroes are rare nowadays and they are also very relative.

It's not that I don't like Manny. I just don't care much about him. I don't watch his matches and I don't do bets on him or against him. I don't really care much if he wins or loses. I dislike some of his actions and I think he is a bit humbug now. But I just personally think he shouldn't be treated as a "king" when he himself has flaws that make the Philippines look bad(him cheating on his wife and abandoning his child from another woman). Some people use him too and he lets it happen because it brings publicity. I just think sometimes, he lets other people think for him. I also think that he should be doing some charity work with all the money he earns. Above all that, I'm still proud he's doing well for our country.

But there are more pro-manny than anti-manny so I guess majority wins. I've heard of some people voting on the opponent just for the heck of it and not because they don't like Manny. Maybe it's just crab mentality, or not liking him just because.

There is no doubt that Pacquiao has given honor to this country and I'm proud that he is a Filipino. What I'm not proud of is that he is being used by corrupt officials from this country. During his latest fight, have you heard how many of those officials went to the US just to watch his fight, while their constituents are here suffering from the aftermath of the typhoon? I just hope that Pacquiao would take a stand and actually knock-out those opportunists so that this country would actually progress.

I like Manny Pacquaio and I'm proud to be a Filipino because of him. Yup, he has his flaws, but he has a heart and dedicate all his fights to the Filipino people. He's our modern day hero. He has shown focus and discipline in his trainings, having the goal to make is countrymen proud of him and making the Philippines known to the world. I just don't like him to enter politics though, I'm truly against it.

I believe there are just some but very few who hates manny. We Filipino should be proud of having a Manny Pacquiao. He is really a word class champion as they said Mexican Killer because of defeating lots of mexican boxing champs.
