do u believe that men were born equal? why r so many women wearing long hair and fancy skirt, but most men are wearing short hair or no hair? bald men r always considered to be cool and brave and stronge, but if a woman who is bald is often considered weird. is that equal?

I really dont think we are equal yet, but we are getting closer. Sure, men can have long hair and wear skirts. Although most people would look at this as strange, I applaude any guy that would have the guts to wear skirts and dresses in public. I would never shave my head because I love my hair, but I dont really like guys with shaved heads either Cheers, Tianna

hi, tianna2, could u please kindly tell me why don't really like guys with shaved heads? don't u think they r cool guys or guys with masculine power? frankly, i'm a male, but everytime when i see someone with bald heads, i feel kinda afraid, just feel that they r bad guys, i maybe wrong, but u know most prisioners' heads have be shaved when they r put into jail.

I definitely think that men can have long hair, actually, ever since I was a little kid I have been attracted to guys who have long hair, so I guess I can't objectively answer this. LOL As far as skirts, well, I think there is definitely a time and place it's appropriate, and more than that, it depends on the style of skirt, and how it looks on the man. Actually, I guess it's the same with women really. Now, I must admit.. I'm a bit into the gothic look, and in that scene it is perfectly normal for a guy to have long hair, wear dresses/skirts and wear make-up, so really I think the context matters. Something I have always wondered is, what I just spoke of is considere "weird" and "freaky" to most people. Yet in this day and age it is completely normal for a woman to wear a man's flannel shirt and jeans. Now, some people may think that is not "hot" or "feminine", but a woman definitely isn't going to get weird or dirty looks in the streets for dressing like this. I definitely don't think there is equality when it comes to appearances. People just can't handle anything different. And I personally, as a female, wouldn't shave my head, but not because of gender rules, but because I love my hair, I love hair in general. Also from a historical standpoint, I did learn in college western civ. that the Asian countries were much more open-minded about men with long hair and skirts. I don't know if this is still the case, but I couldn't help but to think oh wow, maybe I was born in the wrong part of the world. LOL Well, I don't really feel that way, I'm proud of my culture, but I definitely believe in people choosing how they want to look and dress without having to get tormented for it.

of course there are inherent differences between men and women. even on the men's side, we are not equal among each other. there are gender expectations that our society has assigned and shaped us to play. wearing long hair for men nowadays is acceptable. but in some cultures, they are being frowned upon. in the same way that women who wear jeans are also frowned upon in some cultures. but i believe we are equal in many respects.

In the old days where I came from, it was considered a bad thing for a man to cut their hair... If you can picture a typical japanese "samurai" look, you'll understand what I mean...
