Hi all, I am opening this new thread about FOREX trading. I had gone through quite a few of the forex discussions here and seems that both the meaning of FOREX itself and methods of how to trade are still not clear to people. The purpose of opening this thread is to help people to understand more on FOREX itself and its markets. Of course, hope this thread can provide great learning discussion for both the beginners and advance traders. I myself is also not a good trader and hope to learn/improve my trading as this discussion goes on. Let me kick start first: FOREX which is also know as Foreign Exchange Market (some call it FX), lets you make money by trading different currencies. FOREX trading is much more flexible then stocks. Almost all of the brokers allow demo accounts which involves of trading virtual money instead of real money for learning purpose. I believe alot of traders will at least keep a demo account to test their new strategy. You can make money from both sides of the market, ethier from a downtrend (falling price) or uptrend (rising price). You can even adjust your trades on the fly or use automated trading system to do the work for you. However, this Forex is a very fast moving market and is not reccomanded for the weak at heart FOREX trading is a lifetime learning experience and there is no one who is perfect at it. So I hope this discussion is useful to all people interested in FOREX trading. Please feel free to ask any questions! Of course if you can also post here if you have some information that you think is useful. Hope to see alot of forex traders here^^.

Hi! I agree that forex trading is not for the faint hearted. The market moves extremely fast and there is a potential for big losses. I think the more important thing is money management. You should be able to formulate a trading plan that would cut losses quickly and ride winning trades. I find this site very helpful if you're just learning the basic principles: www.babypips.com. It is advisable to start with a virtual trading account to see how the market moves without risking your own money. It is not exactly like the real thing, but it will give you a feel of the process.

Oh yes, money management is another important factor too. You have cover up some points that I missed^^. Talking about money management, emotion control is also another factor. Always make trades clear minded and not with emotions. Trading with emotions is a killer.
