If you plan to vote for McCain...

Who would you like to see him choose for his Vice President? And while I understand that he's not the candidate for everyone, please, let's not make this a debate about who is the better candidate. I'm simply interested in hearing from the McCain supporters as to who they would prefer to see him choose as his V.P.. I'll happily start another discussion to debate the pros and cons of both candidates if anyone is interested in having and intelligent, political debate.

I don't know! I am all about Obama winning because McCain is just another George Bush and he said something recently that implied he see's a 3rd world war and the draft coming back. Obama wouldn't say that crap. NO MORE FRICKEN PRO-WAR PRESIDENTS!!!!!

To each his/her own. This discussion was started, as you can see from my initial post, as a discussion for McCain supporters to toss around ideas and opinions on potential V.P.'s. I will say this much, while I'm not pro-war as a primary course of action (and I don't believe McCain is, either) honesty isn't a bad thing. If it's his opinion that a 3rd world war could be started in the future (this is not to say that he's predicting the U.S. will be the country to start it) then I say I can definitely see where he could be right. There are many other countries in this world that have the potential to start a war that could easily develop into another world war. And, if that were to be the case, should the U.S. fight back, or simply roll over and allow another country to take over? Again, to each his/her own.

I would like to see him choose Sarah Palin. She's a strong woman with a solid record. Not only would she be a great VP, she'd also gain him support among the many Clinton supporters who want to see a woman in the white house. I hope he chooses her. I'm afraid he's just going to pick someone like Charlie Crist who brings very little to the presidential ticket.

I must admit I don't know that much about Sarah Palin, but what I've read sounds good. I'd like to see a woman as president or vice president (though I wouldn't want that woman to be Hillary Clinton), but would want that woman to be as qualified as any male president or vice president we've had. I don't want to see in a woman in office just for the sake of her being a female, just as I'd like one day to see a person of ethnicity hold the office of president or vice president, but not simply for the sake of being a person of ethnicity holding the office. I agree that Crist doesn't seem to have much to bring to the table where being V.P. is concerned. Thanks for your reply!

I havent even seen who is he is thinking about. But at this point I don't think it could be worse than our other candidates so John has my vote regardless.

I've heard numerous people say that. While I'm quite confident that McCain wouldn't choose anyone for his V.P. that would put me off so badly that I wouldn't want to vote for him, there are several potential V.P.'s out there that I feel are less qualified and/or suitable than others. If you were to have the opportunity to select a V.P. for McCain, who would be your choice?

Frankly, I don't care who he puts on as running mate. I'll vote for McCain, period.

Does anyone at all come to mind that you think would make a good V.P.? I read that he's been talking with the governors of both Louisiana and Florida, with speculation that he may be considering them as possible running mates. Bobby Jindal, who is the governor of LA, is one that I'm not sure I'd want to see as the V.P.. I think he may be a bit too young and inexperienced.

I think Condi would make a good running mate. Apart from being a really intelligent person and a good VP, she will get the Black vote and the Female vote away from whoever he is running against. He can't loose if he picks her.

Yes, I think she would also be a good choice. I wonder, though, if the people who would vote for McCain yet don't look favorably upon the Bush administration would be deterred by him choosing her, given the fact that she's a long-standing member of that administration. What do you think?

I didn't think of that. I just thought that she's really qualified for the job. Even though she is a Bush republican, she is also enough of an "other" to get the minority vote away from those who might vote Obama or Hillary just because they are not old white males. A democrat in office would be bad enough, but G-d help us if we get Obama or Hillary for president.

You do make a very good point. She doesn't come across as being cut from the same fabric as many of the other people in the Bush administration. She's female, not white, well-educated and very experienced in government...she may be exactly what McCain needs to get the female and minority votes from the democrats. Here's hoping McCain makes a good choice for V.P.!

I think if he wants to come close to winning he should pick Hillary or maybe Dakota Fanning that way the ticket age would be about the same as any other.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying? Do you feel that McCain is too old to be elected? Hillary is not all that young. I think Ronald Reagan was a great president and he was quite old when he was elected and saw our country through some pretty trying times.

Hillary is a lefty. A tree hugging kumbia singing lefty IMO. Plus McCain can't pick her; she's a Democrat. Age doesn't matter. It's experience that counts. Who is Dakota Fanning?

Yes Catlady I realize what Hillary is. I am not a big fan of hers either. What I was saying is that if McCain wants a chance he would pick her as a running mate. When I said Dakota Fanning that was a joke. She is a very young actress. I was saying that it would make the average ticket age about the same as most of the ones before.
