Night Falls After A Warm, Red Glow

I came back into my dining room, to my computer, about twenty minutes ago, after watching the European Football Final. When I sat at my computer, my attention was drawn to the houses across the Street. There was a warm, red glow radiating off the brickwork on the houses, as they rebounded the red glow of sunset from the west. Within fifteen minutes, it was dusk, and as the red glow faded, the illuminated church on the hill, behind them, took precedence. A single bird had been singing his evensong... a starling I believe, but he is now quiet, and all that can be heard is the hum of my computer and the clatter of my keys as I type.
Bliss! Such a warm feeling, to end a lovely day. I guess it's time to close the curtains now... more's the pity, but if I don't, I will have moths and daddy longlegs galore in here! lol.
How did your day end? Did you see the sun setting, and how would you describe it? I love to watch the sun sink behind the trees, a huge, red circle amidst pink and purple skies.

Hello Darkwing,
That must have been a wonderful sight, no I did't see it but I caught the las ray of sun, my tw robins were out side waiting for their food so I went out and one of the robin was perched on our car bonent with a tiny feather in his beck, then flew on to my shoulder then flew into the honeysuckle bush, I then went in started on my computer.

I daresay that robin of yours is feathering a nest in the honeysuckle. How lovely! I have a resident robin... only one, who sits on the front gate in winter, and follows me around the garden in the warmer months. Sometimes he'll come and sit right beside me. There's a blackbird too, who permanently nests in the garden, and when I'm out there, he scurries around gathering food for his young, even though he knows I'm there. Sometimes he will come close, as well, and give me a few chirps of greeting.
Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution. xx

What a wonderful way of telling us this...we had an awsome sunset the other night..the sun was this big red ball in the sky behind some clouds just after it rained most of the day and it seamed that everything around us took on a whole new color and look...like the grass was so much greener and the trees just glistened. Thank you for shareing this with us it was like I was there looking at it also...hugs my friend.

Hello darkwing, my day today is still bright and sunny. Yesterday ended with me, my sister and her son visiting some friends we grew up at their home. We grew up in a little town called EL Portal California. It sits 17 miles from the Vally floor or Yosemite National Park, along the Merced River. We had not gone up for 10 years. My older sister came from wAshington to visit so we took a drive up there. It is only a two hour drive but it seems like a lot longer when you do not have the time to go.
We drove to our old house we lived in, we saw a mobile home we use to live in which was 20 years old when my parents bought it 40 years ago.
We put our feet in the river which was good. We then went to see our friends and it got dark while visiting them. They live in Midpines which is 15 miles from Mariposa CA.
We got home at eleven last night. We had a good day.

Oh, it sounds as though you had a wonderfully nostalgic day, my friend. The Yosemite National Park is really beautiful... a friend of mine sent me lots of pictures when he and his family visited on vacation about three years ago.
I'm glad you enjoyed your day, and thank you for a lovely description. I can just imagine you putting your feet in the river! Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. x

Yes my friend, I did feel the peace inside my heart as I was reading your description of the sun setting. I do believe you are an excellent writer for you can really bring your readers in another place and in another time with just words.
Take care and God bless!

Oh honey that sounds wonderful! I knew Spain were going to win from the beginning - the other half wishes he had listened to me and backed them rather than Russia and Germany! lol
I don't really see the setting of the sun from the front of my house but when we were in Aviemore we were looking out at the Cairngorm Mountains and the lowering clouds and it was amazingly beautiful! Hugs xxx

It was a wonderful sight to behold, my friend. My two sons bet jointly on Spain, and won £300!!!
Perhaps your other half should have a chat with them, sometime!
The vision across the Cairngorm Mountains sounds beautiful. I'm sure that was good therapy for you, my friend. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. xxxx

Me too, my friend. We tend to say "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning." I suppose it applies to both really, depending whether you're in the countryside, or close to the sea. lol.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxxxx

How wonderfully poetic of a description darkwing....I too love sunsets...actually more than sunrises for some reason. The only time I get to really see sunsets though is during the colder months when sunset is much earlier, during the summer I just don't. I don't have a real "view" to see anything since if I look out my windows at sunset time all I see is the apartment building across the street which blocks any kind of view of the sky
Lately too, we've been having fairly cloudy overcast days and nights as well..so can't see any hint of a sunset at all

Awwww, thank you, my friend. I try! Sunsets and sunrises are different in many ways. I think sunset gives you more a feeling of calm at the end of the day, as night draws in, whereas sunset brings new beginnings, vibrancy, silvery awakenings to all living things, as we embark on a brand new day. I love them both and give my thanks to the deities for our gift of life.
I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones, living in the countryside with no high buildings, other than the church, and a bedroom and living looking to the west across my garden, and the field behind. All this is silhouetted by trees, and makes my sunset beautiful. My dining room faces east, and the church and shool are in view, as well as another line of tall trees, silhouetting the sunrise. The sun rises behind the church, after circling its light around the back of the trees and school... it's beautiful, and gives me the energy to face another busy day. Nature is a wonderful gift my friend, and I wouldn't miss a trick!
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution, my dear friend. Take care. xxx

What a beautiful description of a wonderful sunset. I love watching the sunset, i find it so calming and tranquil. They are such a beautiful site. I didnt see the sunset last night. I was inside in front of the fire, as it is cold here. We are in the middle of winter. It is morning here, just after 8am. The sun is starting to shine on the frosty ground. We have had quite a good frost here today. The car is all iced up as well. But it looks like it will be a really nice day.
Best wishes to you, Darkwing, and take care

Woohoo!!! Hello, my friend. It's good to see you here again... I hope you're all well!
Thank you for your kind words... I try to paint a picture for all to share, and it seems to have worked well. Yes, sunsets are beautiful and I know it's your winter now, but frost normally indicates clear skies so you should see the sun today, albeit weak. I think frost can be very pretty, especially with the sun glinting off it.
Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. Love to you and yours. xxx

What a lovely story to share!
We have amazing sunsets here too.
I have only once seen the sunset over the ocean
at the beach.
It was my good luck charm.
A few months later, I conceived my daughter
after waiting ten long years.
She is the true joy of my life.
It's so wonderful that you can share these special
moments with your online friends and find peace
as the day winds to a close.
Be well.
Have a blessed and beautiful week.
Your friend,
BeautyQueen

Oh, that's a very special sunset to remember, my friend. It sounds very much as though it could have been a good luck charm, or and omen, of sorts, that you will always relate it to the conception of your daughter. Thank you for sharing.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend, for a wonderful Summer, full of special sunsets. xxx

hi darkwing the sun is just barely starting to set here in Tustin Ca and the sky is blue and the birds are still singing
and I am still typing lol.A mockingbird is singing and a crow is
making his racous sounds, and my fan is on full speed as its been one very hot sunday here today.I cannot see the sun setting from where I am but when we go down to the beach in the evenings it is pretty as you see all the various shades of red orange, p;ink, and lavendar and the sun seems to sink into the ocean causing a long splash of orange.

He he... the crow is one of my animal birth totems. Yes, the sun setting across the sea is beautiful. I love the orange path that it sets across the water, rippling and twinkling in the last of the sunlight before the sun sinks into the deep blue yonder. It's a pity you can't see it from where you are... I love to watch both sunrise and sunset and am in a position here, to do so.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend. xx

That sounds really lovely, Darkwing. I love summer evenings, when I go out to the back verandah and we have solar lights down in the bottom of the garden which are giving a soft, white glow under the ferns. It looks so pretty and peaceful, and the moon is reflecting in the pool as well. In winter, the solar lights don't come on very strongly and the sky is mostly too overcast to see lots of stars.

I too have solar lights at the bottom of the garden, amongst ferns, heathers and ornamental faeries. They give a lovely soft glow, I agree. Unfortunately, I don't have a pool, but I'm contemplating a water feature of some kind with perhaps a solar light faerie of some kind, beside it. I would also like to hang solar lanterns in the shrubs and trees to accentuate them in the evening. Wow... big dreams!!!
It sounds as though, like me, you love to gaze at the moon and stars... I find that a very peaceful and comforting thing to do, whilst contemplating our life on Earth and the workings of it. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution.

It was, my friend. It's a pity that where you are is quite low and built up... also, there are a lot of trees around and impossible to see the sun set. Maybe when you find your new home, you will be able to do that again. I love to sit in the garden in the evening with my book, in the summer, watching the sun sink.
Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

How beautifully you describe the sunset Darkwing and the sound of the even'song of the bird. I had the curtains drawn early and was already bashing at the keys trying to play catch up on discussion responses from whilst I was away. My day will end soon as I make my weary self after long drive up to bed. Night night, Sweet dreams. Ellie :D

Awwww.. thank you my friend. I wanted to relate the beauty and the tranquility of nightfall to you all, and it seems to have worked.
I guess you've driven back from Surrey today? Wow... I can imagine how tired you are, after a long day yesterday. Nite nite, my dear friend... sleep well, and sweet dreams. Brightest Blessings and hugs. xxx
