Ehlers-Danlos Syndrom (EDS) is a syndrome that wasn't well known by many people. My daugther was diagnosed with EDS a few years ago. The doctors thought I was a nut when I brought my child to the doctor and said, "I saw this program on tv and I think my child has EDS." As I watched the program, I realized that the guy's symptoms were all symptoms that my daughter had. The doctors could not believe that I was able to diagnoses my child correctly. Once I had watched the program, I started researching online. I printed out tons of information to back up my "diagnosis". EDS is a connective tissue disorder. It is genetic. When a person has EDS, the collagen, in the tissues, joints, etc., is mutated and doesn't hold together like it should. Their skin is very stretchy and they bruise easily. The joints are hyper-extensive. There are very many forms of EDS and one can be fatal. We are fortunate that my daughter has classic EDS. She has joint pain, like rheumatoid arthritis. She has many dislocations. There are many other signs that someone can have EDS but you really need only one sypmtom to have EDS. Does any one have or know of any others with EDS?
