How do you Search for similar Discussions before Starting one???

This drives me crazy. You wouldn't belive that I try to search for discussions before I start a similar one.
I just thought of starting a discussion titled "Do you always have dessert after your meal?"
I typed in the search box "Do you have dessert", I thought those would be enough words to tell me if someone had started a discussion similar to that one. Other discussions showed up about dessert, but not the same as my question. So I started my discussion.
As soon as I started it, Other discussions showed up at the bottom that were similar, and sure enough there was one called "Do you have dessert after every meal?"
Why don't they show up before you start a discussion instead of afterward?
Or am I not searching the right way?
Thanks!

Exactly! That happens to me all the time. When i start some discussion, i realise that some one just strated the same kind of dicussion, or just before i posted. And guess what, i realise there are more number of posts to the otehr one, with the same topic. I have no idea why this happens, and further more i have no idea, how to search for similar discussions either.

Mom, I usually just type in one key word and that will give me all the discussions with that word in it, plus all the questions, comments or discussion about my certain topic. Plus, I think a lot of people troll on here and find a discussion idea from the ones presented. BTW, I don't have dessert after every meal.

I guess the previous posted discussion was tagged only as dessert and not the completed as your search text. But I guess if you search a text or phrase exactly as the topic subject of the previous thread, then it will surely display. But not sure yet, I'll check on it further.
