Responding to discussions : Do you ever decide against it?

Have you ever responded to a discussion or started to and then decided against it? I have done this a lot, and really don't know why I do it. I just start responding and then decide against it, and go on to another discussion.
What makes you decide against responding to a discussion? Have a Great day.

Yeah I find myself doing that too. My mind does change sometimes because when I read the discussion for the first time, I usually already have this idea in my head how to answer it but upon writing on the discussion I usually then think that others may have already responded to it in the same way I had thought it. So I don't bother. But sometimes I do come back to it later and respond anyways. Hehe.

Yes I do much the same as well, with thinking that it may have already the same response that I wish to put. Mostly that is only on common questions. I also tend to respond to it anyway, as I will think of a different way to put it. Have a Great day.

Yes baby,I can honestly say I have thought about responding to a discussion or started to respond to a discussion and then changed my mine,I am not sure why, all I know is something tells me not to respond to the discussion,so when that happens I will just move on and find another discussion to respond too.

I know what you mean about not responding to a discussion because of your gut. I will get that sometimes and then decide not to respond because of it. I think it's because something is telling us that the discussion might end up in conflict and therefore since we like to avoid conflict, we refuse to respond.

Yeah its like a gut feeling, and some people say you should go with your first gut instinct because it is almost always right, and that is true, the discussion could lead to a conflict, and we like to avoid conflicts ,so we refuse to respond,I love you,and Happy Posting.

yes, this happens to me too. Its as though I get half way through a response and then think better of it or get bored. Even worse, I sometimes feel as if I have said the wrong thing

I have tried that SOmeCowgirl but it was the time that I was so drained and tried and I was in the middle of thinking, and nothing really will come up, I just decided to delete what I have started and take some rest. After an hour or two, I decided to come back and check my notification then found it there, finally I was able to drop my response!

I am glad that you do go back to the person's topic that you've found and respond after thinking it through thoroughly. I think that it is much better to not respond if you do not know all of what to say. Have a Great day.

Yeah I have done this a bit too, I start reading the discussion and then go to make a reply and think hang on I will read a bit more of it first just to make sure that no one else have posted already what I want to say and then after i start to read it again I just think to myself oh why bother coz it doesn't really make any differents if I post in it or not so so the time i just don't...

I can understand that, sometimes I will do that. Although I do enjoy just reading the responses on other's discussions.

Yes, I know how that is. You start to respond and then realize you won't respond in a way that you feel is fair to the discussion. Have a Great day.

I like this question, partly because I just did it a second ago! I often start thinking of an answer I want to write, before I even hit "Respond", and if I feel it is going to take too long to make my point, or if I tire of the idea before I start typing, I just move on. My favorite experience (in a weird way) is when I am almost done typing a response and my computer kicks me out for some reason. In those cases, I assume FATE (or whatever) does not want me to respond and I move on. Silly, huh?

I can understand what you mean by it kicking you off and you taking that as a sign to not respond to the discussion as it might add controversy or conflict between members. Thank you so very much for responding, and have a great day.

Yes I have done the same thing. I have started to write a response and then I felt I could not be bothered to go on with it and deleted what I had written, but it doesn't happen very often.
The reason I do it is usually because I suddenly think that what I'm writing is not making much sense. It could also be because I have answered the question in a few words and have nothing more to add. I don't like posting very short responses, I would rather not take part in a discussion if I can't think of more than a few words to add.
Happy myLotting.

Yes I try to write at least a few sentences and if the sentences do not have much content I will just delete and go to another discussion. It is so much easier to do this then to try to think of something else to say when your not sure if the person will respond or not. I try to respond to each and every post, but will sometimes respond from responses I can think of quickly to ones that it takes a few minutes to word. Have a Great day.
