How much and how often do you eat?

From time to time I feel guilty about the amount of food I eat. Especially when in a week I eat a lot of junk food (pizza, chips etc). I try not to eat any snacks between main meals but I not often succeed. I eat always 3 main meals and sometimes additional snacks in between. I try to watch that mostly because if I dont I get guilty about my weight. And what about you? How careful are you watching your weight? How often do you eat? And what kinds of snacks are worth breaking the regime :P?

I've always found that eating good food, means I can snack. Everything is home cooked. I sometimes err on being more vegetarian than other times, but always healthy. I've just started making my own beefburgers and if you use good meat, you can't really call it naughty!

I suppose I don't actually watch the food I take. Anytime when I feel like it, I'd snack on potato chips, chocolates, nuts or ice-cream (whichever is available). However when I am under stress, like anxious over a project or deadlines, I just cannot eat. So when I can eat, I'd just go ahead.

Wow. I envy you. I have a very stressfull life and I wish I didn't feel the hunger under stress. it's completely opposite with me... Stress equals hunger...

It's funny that I see this discussion of today of all days. I went to the doctor today for a check up and when I was weighed I couldn't believe how much weight I had gained over a year. This is all from mindless snacking. I made up my mind to join Weight Watchers so I can keep track of my food intake. This will keep me in check the next time I reach for a snack, more out of boredom than anything else.

I feel guilty a lot too. I've been eating twice as much since I graduated from high school. I guess real life has had some type of effect on me. I tried dieting, but I"m just not into that kind of stuff. All I can do is try and cut back on the junk. I quit drinking soda a few months ago, so I guess I had to start somewhere.

All I can advice you is to drink a lot of water (not soda or anything). It will make your apetite smaller and maybe you won't eat all that junk food :) good luck!

I try to stay on a 2000 calorie diet. When I exercise more, then I increase my calories. When I cheat, I fall off the horse and roll into the ditch and get completely covered with mud... it's not pretty (chocolate chips, peanuts by the handful, etc.) But when I stay on my plan, I seem to do ok - especially when I force myself to write everything down that I eat in the course of a day.

I eat two full meals and usually have a little snack ( nuts or popcorn) before bed. I know I should eat 6 small meals, but who wants to do all of that cooking?! But for the sake of health, I will try.

Same here. Most of the time I feel guilt about eating too much. The thing is, I like eating. Hahahah! And my favorites are really sinful: Pasta and desserts. I do try to cut down on my carbo intake. I also dont exercise. Hahaha. I'd rather spend the time with my daughter. I try not to eat so much and if I do eat snacks, I try to limit the intake.

Well, from looking after my nephew, I know that looking after kids and spending time with them can sometimes be better than few hours at the gym. I mean all that running alone can take away like millions of callories :)

It is not necessarily bad to eat 3 meals and snacks also, depending on what you are eating. As a diabetic I am encouraged to eat 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day to keep my insulin regulated. I have a difficult time following what they would like me to eat and when and the best way was when I was writing it all down on paper, but it is so tedious, at times that I stopped doing it. It also has a lot to do with the size of the portions that you are eating. I know that my parents always encouraged a full plate of food, but with some foods........most foods, actually, a smaller portion is actually better for you. It is difficult to change eating habits that you have lived with your entire life.

I used to feel guilty of how much I ate but not anymore. I've recently cut back on how much I eat so that I can lose weight. Now I don't seem to get as much an appetite as before. I also eat a lot of junk food especially when I am stressed and I need some sugar. I always have some chocolate or something hiding in my bookbag or in my clothes so I can eat it later. I eat three small meals in a day and I may have some snacks in between. But one thing that hasn't changed is the gum that I chew everyday.

My husband had always a normale good weight , but in a periode that he was sick he gain a lot of weight , and after a while he is really working hard to loss that weight and it really not that difficult as long you got some one to support you and eating junk food is no problem as long you do some sports with it so you body can burn it. I like junk food as well ... and eat it once a week.

Maybe you should go consult the doctor about that... It might not be very healthy and who knows, it might be some kind of condition...

I don't eat a lot, but that's only because I can't afford to. Food costs money and I don't buy that food, so I feel bad when I eat more than I need to. I feel like I'm stealing from the generous people who buy the food for me. So needless to say I don't really watch my weight. I don't have to. I can't eat enough to gain weight. In fact, I'm barely maintaining it.

When I was 21 I had a waistline of 24 now that i'm 25 my waistline has ballooned to 28-29. Let the figures speak!!! Although I tend to feel guilty when I overeat, I can't help it. Be it pizza, potato chips, coke float, chocolates, desserts... Have you ever had that feeling that when you start to eat you can't seem to stop? That's how I feel when I eat... ALthough from time to time I try to tell myself that I have to go on diet, my efforts are futile because when I start eating my fave foods I forget everything.... lol...

I really don't eat so often nor do I eat much. I often eat fruits when I am hungry so I do not really have to worry too much about packing some extra weight here and there.

I eat a lot as well i too sometimes feel guilty about it after, i guess i eat so much because i know it wont really effect me weight wise, im consider to be under weight for my age, im 21 im 5'5 and i only weigh 102 pounds, but i eat like crazy, and i mean fast food candy and type of food ill eat it. but if you enjoy eating junk here and there then i wouldnt worry to much, if your happy with who you are then eat as much as you want. the only person judging you, is you.
