Do you donate your money?

I do it sometimes, knowing that I have social responsibilites. I also do it through some religious institutions when I am sue that the money will reach the poor.

To be honest, I hardly ever donate. Mostly because %90 of the time I'm not carrying cash.

It is the duty of any civilized human being to help the needy people.Giving and receiving help is not a crime. But it should be in privacy, not by publizising.

Yes, I have donated many times before. I have donated small amounts to Red Cross and to the missioanries during the month of October. (This was being done before in my old school - a Catholic school). Every Christmas if not summer, I try to look through my closet and give away stuff that no longer fits me or have faded, have small tears and shoes that I no longer wear. We usually give them to those less fortunate working in farms and some to the Church. Last Christmas, I even tries asking old shoes and shirts from my friends to be given to charity. Our parish priest back at home set up this group of stay at home moms or grandmothers ( those who are in need of extra cash to feed their family) wherein they gather scratch papers and empty rolls of tissue paper so they could make it into charcoals and sell it. My family and I try to collect out empty tissue paper rolls and give it to them. ~

I do donate. There are several agencies here that helped me when we were in a pretty desperate situation and I try to give back to them often. Memolink also has a donate option for your points so every so often instead of getting the cash I do that. I prefer to try and give to the ones that are often forgotten because they are a smaller organization or to give off season (the homeless are often forgotten until Christmas so I give during the summer). Very cool post, I think this would be a great way to get the word out and remind people that are help is needed out there.

I directly donate everymonth to Unicef and a finnish general enviromentalist organisation Luontoliitto (=Nature group). I donate to the latter mainly due to their cool member magazine, I love the beautiful pictures and the occasional articles about environmental issues. Also when worthy causes come along and I'm asked to donate I usually give. Few years back money was collected to support the Veterans of our wars and I used to give to that cause aswell, but nowadays there are so few Veterans and so much money, they quit accepting donations.
