If they hated it what makes you think I will like it?

I sometimes have to wonder about parents that "pass on" old family names that have been in their family each generation for a very long time. Often people with names like "Thaddeus Jeremiah" and "Myrtle tuttle" or other similar names that are outdated and refuse to just roll from the tongue, tend to not like the name themselves and in some cases even resent being given such a name. My question is, if the person who had the name previously never liked it, what makes the expectant parents think that the child is going to love it? I think that these people are doing their child a grave disservice by making them instantly different from their peers with these types of unusual or unmelodic names.

I don't think I would name my someone who didn't like their name. Like I wouldn't name my child Alberta cause grandma doesn't like it or any of the other names within my family that no one likes.
