I'm getting my first ever surgery tomorrow, and although I don't think I'm worried about it, my body is saying otherwise. I have not been feeling well since last night, and it is getting worse by the minute. My stomach is in knots. I feel nausious and weak.
Have you ever had surgery? Did you feel like this prior to your surgery?

I do feel calm. I'm not really nervous about it. I guess it's a subconcious feeling. It really isn't a major surgery, but I will be knocked out for it and will stay in the hospital overnight.

I've had plenty of teeth pulled, a couple without any pain meds because I was pregnant at the time and couldn't get pain meds, but I had a broken tooth they had to pull.
I've never had a mole removed, but I had an abcess drained, that didn't feel very good!
And other than that and child birth, that's about it medically. Oh, I had the IUD inserted, that wasn't much fun either.

Your first surgery, what, ever? If it is then I can imagine that you are feeling nervous. The last surgery I had, was in July last year and it was a partial hysterectomy and I was in a state about it. It was mainly because it was classed as a major operation and I worked myself up into a state thinking that I would not wake up from it. I was fine though but the thought sometimes is worse than the actual surgery. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly for you xx

I have never had any surgery before. I will be going under for this, and that does worry me a bit. It isn't major surgery, I'm just having my gall bladder removed. If all goes well I will just have a couple tiny incisions. There is a chance they will have to really open me up because I've let this go on over 2 years now.

I will make a post as soon as I'm up for it after I return home. I'm not sure how I'll feel so it may be a few days. I should be home on Wednesday.

hi Katsmeow1213 gallbladder surgery is a cinch now,its called
bandaid surgery and you can go home the same day. You will be fine as I went thru the same thing and was back to work in just one week and I was in my seventies when i had it. its normal to be nervousbut you will feel every so much better with that
gallbladder gone, I guarantee that.

Oh wow, tomorrow! Well, I really hope it goes well and that you'll be back to tell us how it all went later on.
I've had surgery three times, four if you count that I had to go under again a few days later for one operation. Of course you will be nervous, but the worst feeling, honestly, is just feeling nauseous when you first wake up. It will be over in no time, and surgical techniques are so clever these days that the actualy wounds are minimal and so heal faster.
So, stop worrying and enjoy everyone fussing over you for a bit!

Yeah, I've had a few surgeries, and its normal to feel anxious and nervous, but just think when you get it done and over with, you'll start feeling better. The best part about surgery is when they give you the feel good stuff in your I.V. after that you don't care what they do to you..lol. You'll probably feel a little sore afterward, but you'll soon be up on your feet again. Good Luck

I had surgery on my nose. I was scared because I had never had surgery before. It all went well. I was OK until they came in with the tube they put down your throat. I freaked. I told them you better knock me out first are you wont be putting that tube in me. so they did. I don't remember any of it. It will be okay. Good luck tomorrow. What are you having surgery for?

Maybe some meditation or yoga would
take your mind off the stress.
That often helps me.
Most times, I pray and seek comfort
from God.
Prayer and meditation have been
proven to lower blood pressure and anxiety
as effectively as medication.
I think they did an article in Prevention about it.
My last surgery was the C-section
and when it happened, I did not have
time to worry. My unborn baby had a fever
and was in distress so there was no time
to think of myself.
Best of luck with your surgery.
I'm sure that all will go well.
But you have to stay positive.
