Pentagon announces charges in USS Cole bombing By PAULINE JELINEK Associated Press Writer 1 hour ago WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon said Monday it is charging a Saudi Arabian with "organizing and directing" the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole - and will seek the death penalty. Brig. Gen. Thomas W. Hartmann, legal adviser to the U.S. military tribunal system, said charges are being sworn against Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, a Saudi of Yemeni descent, who has been held at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, since 2006.

I'm not sure I'm getting the point here. (No smarta$$ comments, please! ) Oh, sorry! I just saw the subject line. (Okay, smarta$$ comment deserved. ) Another case of our government in action? You know how it works. I'd love to give you more in-depth answers, but your discussions usually go right over this blonde head! (You know me!) It does seem like an awful long time, especially since he's been in custody so long. Is he the one who claims he was tortured into confessing? I wonder if that's the reason its taken so long cause I'm sure they had to investigate that.
