Fire alarmed!

OK I know that originally this house was supposed to be for only one family. But like many houses in here it was transformed into two different apartments and a kitchen was created were a bedroom was supposed to be. SO my kitchen is not exactly the perfect kitchen and the air flow isn't either, apparently. We have our fire alarm in the hallway. It is not that close to the kitchen but the truth is that every time we use the oven or cook something that creates a lot of steam the darn fire alarm goes off! Even with the air filter on. My son is the tallest one and the one in charge of pushing the button to shut off the silly thing but, of course, this shouldn't happen. During the winter it is not so bad because it's colder and the house is not as hot as it is during summer. But lately it's almost every other day, sometimes even with regular cooking, not even too much steam. It's annoying but we don't want to take out the fire alarm because who knows it might be needed one day. ANyone out there has the same problem? IF you do, how do you deal with it - other than just go there and turn it off LOL

Yes, it's a very good idea to have it installed. The only thing is that ours is so darn sensitive LOL I'm going to try replacing the batteris as the other poster said because it might be it.

heres a hint if your fire alarm goes off just from steam its getting ready to quit on you, the battery is going out, and they will just keep doing that until they stop completely. you need a new fire alarm when it keeps going off like that, so if you are in an apartment you need to let the manager know so he or she can get you a new fire alarm. steam wont set off a new alarm butr one on the fritz yes, its the battery wearing out.

Hmmm you might have a point there, I will change the batteries and see or I will try with another fire alarm - the last one we bought it came in a package of two so we have an extra one anyways. Thanks for the hint:)
