Why oh why ?

My sisters husband was a very nice guy. However, these days he puts her down in front of the kids. If she says no, he will immediately refute it. Its very frustrating. I dont know if it is low self opinion that is making him do this. She has tried talking it over, even argues in front of the kids on that point, but to no avail. Its upsetting her to such an extent, its affecting her health. What could be the reason to this ??
