What do you do when you have been up for two days?

I can't sleep! I swear something is wrong with me. I even let up on the coffee which is unusual for me. I have not slept in two days. Every time I lay down I look at the ceiling and my mind keeps going. So I get up after a while and watch tv, go on the pc. The kids keep me busy during the day. Have you ever been so tired and cant sleep. Nothing is upsetting me. I am about ready to go to the doc. Dang I'm going to go insane from lack of sleep which is not from lack of trying. How do you all go to sleep when you cant? I am willing to try anything.

helpful but I would not be able to get up with baby in the morning. I will try that if worse comes to worse and someone else is home.

Try a warm bath maybe even a little warm milk. Keep the room cool and just ry and relax. maybe even a little radio on with just music to help keep your mind off the fact that you can't sleep. The good news is if you go like another week you can start shooting for the record.

I will try that. I think it might be because I quit smoking 4 days ago. maybe my body is off balanced. I thought not smoking would make you tired. Guess not!

By now i think that you have had better sleep for the past few days. Has the problem solved? Certainly their must be some feelings that were compulsorily buried in your heart,.may be the little disappointments of the past, or a sad event in your family, or some thing of this kind.. has surfaced from your sub-conscious mind.. and has started to react.. The submerged feelings in our sub-conscious minds often surfaces...without our will..wondering how, i could say with such a clarity.. because.. i have been on such ocassions many times.. So Honey just take a long walk in the evening.. preferably in the a greenish pasture.. along with your family.. just take deep breathe.. you will certainly feel good.. and their is no need for sedatives.

Even if you can't sleep, lay down and let the body rest. But I find that reading a boring book crashes me out. I cannot STOP form falling alseep if I have a boring novel in my hands! Worth a try?

I finally did get some good sleep. After a busy 4th of July. I slept so good last night! Hooray!!!!!!!!!

I sometimes am the same way. Alot of the times it has to do with diet. Try eatting potatos and lettece they bolth have things to make you sleep. Potatoes help the body produce dopamine. Eat and extra large helping. Sometimes eggs help as well. Potatos are a for sure. Sweet dreams! :)

I am not sure I am spelling it correctly. Dopamine is the chemical that the brain produces in order to help / make you sleep. I think I am not sure that you can get it from an outside source. You have to eat certain foods that have certain chemical or vitamin properties, then your body takes these and produces dopamine. Kind of like vitamin D. Its hard to find this in a supplement you need calcium and sun along with a bit of vit.c and Mangnissum. I read Food creates your mood. I find personally that your inner spirit tells you what your lacking by craving, in most cases where adictions or allergic reactions are not involved. All we have todo is pay attention to the voice inside and eat healthy. Of course there can always be other factors, but food is a good place to start. Have A second helping of potato salad for me, how I like potato salad and thanks for the idea of something to make tomarrow. Sweet dreams

Thanks for the best response! I always like to eat fruit first thing in the morning then the heavier stuff like meats and eggs. I do my best to stay away from pork and pork prepared foods. They seem to wiehgt me down and the added salt gives me a much faster heart rate. Healthy eating and thanks for sharing. :)

Oh wow, you have not slept for two days? That's terrible! Such a thing has never happened to me. If I don't sleep one night, the next night I sleep like a log and no force on earth can wake me. The best way to go to sleep is to empty your mind of all thoughts (achievable, I assure you). Then when your mind is not racing that much any more, try this relaxation technique. Focus on each muscle of your body, starting from the toes, and moving slowly toward the scalp. You will notice that you muscles relax when you focus on them. You will be surprised to notice how tense you really are. And at the second or third round, you will be sound asleep. :) Cheers and wish you a peaceful sleep!
