While I was searching for the discussions, I found an interesting topic. When I tried to respond to it, I found that it was started an year ago. I was excited..Great that the topic had been an interesting one for the past 1 year. But still, is it ok to respond to discussions that have been started an year ago? Do you respond to the discussions that have been started few months ago just because they are interesting?

Hello smilyn.
It is not a very easy thing for me to find lots of discussions to respond in a day. For this reason, whenever I find some discussion which really takes my interest and deserves a response then I just don't hestitate to answer it because it is something rare for me :)
It is really a very enjoyable thing to do when you find a discussion which interests you and when you share what you know with other members of mylot here. Doing this thing will help you make more friends on mylot and in this case the discussions started by those friends will be the ones which you can give a priority when responding. In addition, they will be the ones who will response your discussions.
I just type what I know or what I want to say even if the discussion is more than one year old and I even reply to the discussions of people who are not active any more. The only key I am looking for in this issue is the quality of the discussion or it is effect on myself.

That is really interesting to know. Topics that are of great interest never looses their worth. I have recieved responses for discussions that I have started few months back. I wonder about this. So the basic concept is : whether the discussion is interesting or not only. Good that mylotters do not care about the time period it was started..

I agree with MichaelJay. If I think that a topic is interesting I will respond to it no matter how old it is.

When I was new here, I only respond to recent or relatively new discussions. Now, I do respond to interesting discussions no matter how old they are. It could be few months old or several months old or a year old. It doesn't really matter. For as long as the topic is really very interesting of course.

If a discussion comes up because it's been tagged as a subject I'm interested in, I don't really care how old or recent the post is. If there's something I want to say, I will add it to that discussion and I don't think its age makes any difference.
It then comes back to the top of 'recent discussions' so more people may see it and continue the thread.
