I can't sleep easily when I'm not home. I used to sleep in my room, with my dozen of pillows. I am home sick and I am really looking for my bed. I guess, it familiarity. If your not really familiar with your surrounding and you can get used to it on the first day, it's really hard to adjust. I usually doesn't have enough sleep when I am from a friend or a relative house.

If the bed is just right, not to soft and not to hard, and the room is quiet I'll sleep fine

I agree. I love to sleep. I could actually sleep on the floor, couch, or any other flat surface.

It depend on the bed....if it is comfy, I will just go to sleep immediately but if the bed is hard then that will be a problem. Revently my spouse and I attended a confrens and stayed over at a friend's house. Holy moly...the bed was turn downside up with the springs poking out at certain sections though its not visible. During daytime at the confrens our back was aching....in the end we turned the bed rightside up and we had better sleep. But nothing beats our own bed of course.
