Which do you prefer and why? Your local radio stations or satellite radio. I have XM Satellite in my car and do not care for it, there are too many stations and none of them seem to play up to date music. Am I the only one that thinks like this? Thanks

I caved in to all the hype about satellite radio and subscribed to Sirius radio. I wasn't impressed at all. It's very similar to cable in the sense that there are just too many stations that you aren't interested in. I prefer my local radio stations. I also like National Public Radio. NPR Satellite radio does have more variety when it comes to music channels, but how much music can you listen to? Also I'm not in the car enough to enjoy all the advantages of satellite radio. I can see it beneficial for people like truckers and others who drive a lot. But for me it was not worth it. Lloyd

Thank you Lloyd ! My sons have been giving me a hard time about my disinterest in it. They keep telling me that I must be the only person in the world that doesnt care for it....lol The only reason I have it now is because it came with my car as a preview for a month. I dont think that I will be subscribing to it at the end of the month..lol Have a great day !

Thank you very much for the "best reponse". Here is the latest news regarding satelite radio. Tue Jul 29, 10:05 AM ET WASHINGTON (AFP) - US satellite radio giants Sirius and XM completed their merger Tuesday after winning a lengthy battle with regulators over concerns about market competition. The new company formed by Sirius Satellite Radio's buyout of XM Satellite Radio, will be called Sirius XM Radio Inc. The combined company has more than 18.5 million subscribers, making it the second-largest radio company, based upon revenue, in the country. But the company has "significant" growth prospects because it currently has cornered less than 10 percent of the home and car market, it said. The fact that they have cornered less than 10 percent of the home and car market means that there are many people who feel like you and I. Once against, thanks for the "best response". Lloyd

I'll go for the usual local radio stations anyday. There are only one or two channels on satellite I'd bother listening to. Though really, as a college student, I'm much happier just going to Ruckus.com and downloading one or two songs and listening as I like (sort of like iTunes only it's free, mostly).

Me too ! I finally went through all of the channels yesterday and, like you, have only found 3 that I would even consider listening to on a daily basis. Have a good day :-)
