Well, we always talk about best batsman and we include those players which most of us have not seen playing like Sir Don Bradman, Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Chappel Brothers.
So I m starting this thread, which is all about BATSMEN, modern batsmen whom we have seen playing. There are various categories and you have to choose one from each category. Onyl choose from them and you can also give an additional name of a batsmen who deserves to eb there but is missing :p
* Batsman having "BEST DEFENCE"
1. Micheal Atherton (England)
2. Steve Waugh (Australia)
3. Rahul Dravid (India)
4. Jack Kallis (South Africa)
5. Saleem Malik (Pakistan)
* Batsmen who are "STYLISH"
1. Mark Waugh (Australia)
2. Brian Charles Lara (West Indies)
3. Rahul Dravid (India)
4. Sachin Tendulkar (India)

2. Sanath Jayasuria (Srilanka)
3. Adam Gilchrist (Australia)
4. Andrew Symonds (Australia)
5. Chris Gayle (West Indies)
6. Brendon McCullum (Newzealand)
* Batsmen who are "CLEAN HITTERS" who do not slog but when they hit, they stay hit :)
1. Yuvraj SIngh (India)
2. Virender Sehwag (India)
3. Sanath Jayasuriya (Srilanka)
4. Adam Gilchrist (Australia)
5. Kevin Pietersen (England)
6. Andrew Symonds (Australia)
* Batsmen who are most "UNDER RATED"
1. VVS Laxman (India)
2. Matthew Sinclair (Newzealand)
3. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (West Indies)

Thats a good discussion to start with. My choices are as follows:
Best defence: The nickname says it all. The "Wall" Rahul Dravid is the best among the list. But, I feel that Chanderpaul is missing in that list. He is one of the best in defence. His stance is a little bit special. If you look at his record, he would have lot of not-outs.
Stylish: It is well known that left-handers are naturally stylish. So, I will go with Lara.
Most Aggressive: Two batsmen in that list comes to my mind, Sanath Jayasuriya and Adam Gilchrist. I could not choose between them. Both are great.
Clean Hitters: I would take "Yuvraj Singh". I cannot forget those six sixes off Broad in the T20 World cup.
Under Rated: I will go with VVS Laxman. He could also be considered as one of the under performed guys.
Over Rated: I agree that Shahid Afridi is really overrated as a batsman. And he is also underrated as a bowler.
Thanks.

well, everybody has their own opinions and choices. I respect it but we are not talking about best batsman as whole. we have divided this art of batsmanship into different categories. I want you to tell me your choices category wise
Thanx

Hello there Innocent, yes I think that Sarwan is really over rated. He has not perform since he has been given the leadership roles. It is sad to say. Tiger (C'paul) he really has come into form since Brian Lara has left the side. His average has climb and his performance superb. I am really proud of him. He is really under rated. You are really a good cricketing fan and all that you have said I don't need to add or subtract. They are really correct and precise.
