These little dogs are so adorable? Does anyone know if the are like poodles and don't shed or are the more like golden retrievers that shed all over the place? Someday soon I hope to live in a place where I am allowed to have pets and I want a cute little lap dog for company. I have had a poodle before and loved it. But there are so many different kinds of little dogs that are so cute and make good pets. Does anyone have any of these cuties? Do they shed? How are they with small children? I have several grandchildren and the trend doesn't seem to be slowing down any on one front. So whatever kind of dog I get will have to be good with kids.

They are a very sweet breed of dog. Ours is 10 years old and she is perfectly fine at family functions with small children...although she has an initial period of getting over the excitement of visitors. They do not shed and we keep our shih tzu in a puppy cut most of the time as I do not want to deal with maintaining a long coat. We have totally loved having our little "Honey" as a part of our family.

I have a Bischon Shih tzu cross and from what I've found she doesn't shed. That pair of breeds and the cross of it is supposed to be hyper allergenic and They have hair not fur. They definitely have personality!
Mine is 2 years old this past June 2nd. (shes my Avatar pic) and shes spoiled but not spoiled rotten like her sibling my aunt has! Dragon is a very boucny LICKY dog and does alot better with small children than her mom does. A year ago i wouldnt have let her near a small child as she was likely to get excited and knock one on their butt. Now my cousins 3 year old daughter Katie can play with her and she doesnt do a thing to Katie.
My parents have her mom and dad...her dad isn't the brightest dog but hes loving and a wonderful friend/pet. Her mom is very very smart (she regularly stows away in my car and comes for sleep overs -literally will hide under a blanket in my car so she cant be seen) but definitely not fond of any children other than my youngest sister...other kids shes likely to take a nip at.
