Not just an ordinary vacation when I visited Panglao Island, Bohol. It was a wonderful experience to be there summer of 1999 and summer of 2000. The first time I've visited my mom's home province, Bohol that etched me in my thoughts that there is more about being a Filipino...to be proud that I am Filipino, to be proud that we have these best tourist destination and that meant to me that Bohol is ours, Tubataha Reef is ours, Boracay is ours, Mt. Apo is ours, Camiguin, Guimaras, Palawan, Negros... the rest of the beautiful Philippines is ours. I was offered once to have a vacation in Busan Korea. I opted the offer and instead chosen to travel all of my own from Coron Island Palawan. I had to try my diving skills, it was such a mess but worthwhile than not having tried it. Next destination was Badian Resort in Negros Orriental. Wow! Very impressive location. No such traces of spoiling trash and human habitation along the coastline. I wanted to step back to Badian to visit their beautiful beaches and hidden water falls. Guimaras was in the list. Yes, Guimaras Island has its sprawling beautiful coastline. I don't swim that much but I was excited to have a brisk dip. Last destination was Iligan, Lanao del Norte in Mindanao. Second home province of our little President. I stayed at the La Timoga home of the Macapagals. I had to sleep overnight. The following day I was able to visit the Tinago Falls alone. I went there and just listened the gargling huge and hidden waterfall. I wonder why I haven't been abducted by terrorists. Could be I looked like one of them ahahahaha. When I visited Iligan, I was in-tuned of the abducted Europeans, but I could still see foreigners. I am just sad why some people are hurting others. I've met a lady from Greece. We've met at the Chowking Iligan City. She was there to see Maria Cristina Falls for her thesis back in Greece. We became friends. Finally Maria Santilas came back for a month long vacation plus a community mission job in Lanao. I love Philippines...come visit the vast richness of our land, the beauty, color and culture!!!

The Philippines sounds like a wonderful country and one that I would really love to explore. I think that I would fly to Cebu and then go around by ferry to a few of the different islands. Most of all I would be excited about seeing the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. I know that I would find Palawan like paradidse with its gorgeous palm fringed beaches. I would go snorkeling into the warm tropical waters hoping to see a colorful reef and friendly fish. The waterfalls sound really beautiful and quite refreshing to see. The Philippines is on my top ten list of countries that I wish to go to.

yes it is, our country is rich of tourist destinations. i've been there in iligan. i love their waterfalls specially Tinago not only falls like Maria Cristina but they have also a nice swimming pools. No other city that have many pools in line, you can choose the deepness of the water. I love iligan and i visited this city many times already. The next destination you should visit is Davao City, if you haven't here maybe you can give time to visit the city. Davao is also a good tourist destinations that many foreigners visit every year. You can try also the nice beaches of the Island Garden City of Samal. Next move for my vacation this coming December is Bohol, I want to witness the beauty of this island. We are planning to visit with my girl friend.

Eksaktomiente! I agree. I am from Toril District, City of Davao. Proud Mindanaon from the beautiful City of Davao. In Davao, the must have is Marilog District. I think it is cooler there than that of Baguio. It is comparable of the weather somewhere close to the crater of Mt. Apo. I've reach the summit of that dormant volcano and all I could say is that wowwww I've shouted out atop of the Apo even if we were forewarned that we're not suppose to do it. I did! I'll go back hometown Davao and we plan to visit Mainit(Hot) Spring in Davao del Norte. Is that one in Nabunturan(Mountainous?). Noticed that the Northeastern Provinces of Davao expresses the meaning of each place's name. You can understand the word if you are Translating or Interpreting like me. Tagum is an ethno-term for dark water. In Cebuano the right term for Tagum of the Lumads is "lagom" lah-gohm which mean water way that look darker because of the presence of natural metal deposits one of which is Gold. Maragusan known destination for cascading water falls that looks like a Dutch Skirt with lace raffles. Maragusan meaning "Passage way of bodies of water." its an untapped Northeastern destination. Mt. Diwalwal and Mt. Diwata where gold bars are. Diwalwal refers to a tongue that drops once you've reached the summit of the mountain. Well well well...try to visit these place one at a time and say WOW too!!!

As a child I recall watermelons floating by the river banks in Jaen, Nueva Ecija. We would play, swim and eat lots of watermelon :)

I agree with you. Philippines is one of the best destination to visit for travellers because of the place and the people that are so hospitable. Ive been in the philippines once in my life and ive go to Boracay Island and it is the best beaches ive ever seen in my entire life. The beach is so clean and so clear. You can see all stuff in the beach. The weather is not really hot in the summer i mean it is normal hot not over extending like here in the US. if i have enough money then Ill probably come and visit philippines aagin and enjoy my time there in the beach.
