Dark Crystal sequal

I know there is a sequal in the works called The Power of the Dark Crystal. Even more exciting, they are bringing back the old actors. The voices of Kira, Jen, Aughra, and Chamberlain are going to be the same from the original movie. I know that it is supposed to take place a couple of hundred years after the end of the first and that Jen and Kira are king and queen. The plot is supposed to involve a new character, a girl made of fire that steals a shard of the crystal. That is pretty much all I know. Let me just say that when I found out even that much I was almost in tears I was so happy. Does anyone have anymore information? More specifically, I am looking for an approximate release date. As of now, all I can find is 2009, but i know they have been working on this movie for years now. Does anyone have a more specific idea of when this movie will be released or even if 2009 is a definite?

whoa another Dark Crystal??!! oh man thats fantastic! the Dark Crystal is one of my all time favorite movies! been a long time coming for a sequel though..and without Jim Hensen..which is a bummer.
im gonna try to see what i can find. if i find anything different from what you've posted i will be back!

hmm..apparantly back in May (i think) the magazine, Variety, reported that the project was cancelled. but in the IMDB forum, ppl are saying no, it just might be released straight to DVD. which is cool and sucks at the same time lol!

I know, it would be awesome to see it on the big screen! Oh well... and while no Jim Hensen, at least his daughter is one of the producers. I've managed to find a single screen shot in my wanderings, but that was at 3 AM and I can't remember where I found it!
