cats can have rabies, but only if they aquire it,just like any other animal. the most you'd get most likely is a small infection if the cat has a dirty mouth.my cat nips me all the time when he's playing and i've never had a reaction outside of a small scratch.

Cat's can have rabies, but since you are not violently ill after a week, then it is safe to say that the kitten did not have rabies. Any animal bite can get infected, though, which can lead to you getting sick. If the bite is still puffy, sore, or oozing liquid, then you should see a doctor to get it treated. If it has mostly healed up an doesn't hurt you, then I would say don't worry about it.

First, did the bite break the skin? Just a simple "love" bite or a bite when you are playing with the kitten isn't anything to get too worried about. If the bite broke the skin but not seriously, then you should wash the bite throughly with soap, water and then use an antibacterial ointment. Usually kittens bites don't go too deep and usually don't break the skin. Cats do have bacteria that could cause an infection in humans. I know because a friends cat bit me and broke the skin...I did get an infection and had to take antibiotics for a short period of time to cure the infection. But, again, the bite broke the skin. Since it has been over a week since the bite, then you don't need to worry too much, but if there is a wound and it gets infected then you should see the doctor. Where is the kitten now? Do you own the kitten? Is it allowed to run the neighborhood? Can you locate the kitten if you don't own it? If it is your kitten or easily found keep an eye on it to see if it gets sick. Any warm blooded animal can get rabies. That's why we vaccinate them against the disease. It isn't always true that all cats have rabies, it depends on many things, including if the cat has had contact with a carrier of rabies. If the kitten had an open wound from a fight with another animal or if it's mother had rabies, then the kitten could have rabies. But, since it happened a week ago, I wouldn't worry unless you get horribly ill. Usually signs of rabies will show up within the 5 to ten day incubation period. I hope this helps and I am praying for you.

Any kind of animal can get rabbies. A dog a cat a squirrel a rabbit anything bitten by somthing that had rabbies can get rabbies. Has the cat that bit you had a rabies shot if it has their is nothing to worry about it you dont' know you may want to talk with a doctor.

if your bitten by any animal you should always find out if it had rabies shots, etc. also, you can just get infection if its not cleaned really well. if its swelling and dont look right maybe you should have a DR. look.

You should first wash it with soap on running water. Then go to a nearby hospital for anti rabies shots . . Its better to be sure

Any mammal can get rabies. You should check to see if you are in a high risk rabies area. Rabies can manifest after 2 weeks or more. If you have flu like symtoms which are the first symptoms of rabies then I would go the doctor. Cats have a lot of bacteria in their mouth like lots of other animals. Bites especially deep ones can easily become infected. When my husband got bit by a feral kitten we went to the doctor and they gave him antibiotics for it.

not only dogs have rabies. any kind of animal could have rabies. but it was a little kitten and the way you explained it, i think there's nothing to worry. your health should have been worse than it was a week ago. but just in any case, i think that you should visit a doctor, because you i dont think that you would believe us instead of a doctor. this must be a lesson to you that in other cases to not touch that much animals!! take care, ardi
