One talk show did a call in survey and they asked their views would you rather pay $4.00 a gallon for gas or $4.00 a cup for Starbucks Coffee? The Response was just over half said they would rather pay $4.00 a gallon for gas. Are you willing to pay $42.62 per gallon for Starbucks Coffee?

That's too expensive. I'm a coffee lover too but I don't think so I will buy a 1 cup of coffee for $4. Oh my! Here in our country I think this cost $2-3 not bad. But I will prefer , I will bought rice than coffee, on $4 I can purchase like 5 kilo of rice. I will not pay for that coffee, life here is in crisis. No way... I will drink an ordinary coffee instead.

Starbucks announced yesterday that they have to close 600 US stores for underperformance and have suspended their stock trading.
The economy is TOO bad to go to Starbucks! Make coofee at home and take it in the car! It is FAR cheaper!

Yes of course if it is a choice of going to Starbucks or buying fuel for your car you would have to choose the fuel.
I don't have money to spare so I have never bought a coffee in Starbucks. I drink all my coffee at home at a fraction of the price I would have to pay in any coffee shop.
When times are hard you have to prioritize your spending. If you can afford to buy coffee in Starbucks then you can choose to do so.

It's interesting you say that because the other day, I was at a starbucks & while I was in line to get my "$42.62 per gallon coffee", I over heard a conversation... 2 people in front of me were talking & one of them were complaining up a storm about how gas prices were going up... Then it came time for them to order... Obviously those 2 were friends & they ordered at the same time & the bill came out to almost $11 for 2 cups of coffee... Then they shifted their conversation to what they were drinking... One that was really storming up a complaints about gas prices said, "Yeah, I get this drink all the time... I come here & get this drink at least twice a day & I come here pretty much everyday..." It was pretty obvious that she drank more than a gallon of coffee a week... I really never thought of it that way about the coffee but I don't go to starbucks twice a day either... Another thing that can add up really quickly is women's perfumes... Somebody told me some of the popular perfumes can add up to $700 - $800 per gallon... I can't see how "SOME" women can go through perfumes like that every month... $3.99 bottle of after-shave lasts me just about 2 month...

I guess it has to do with what their priorities are in life... As much as I drink coffee, I'll probably go to starbucks 2 - 3 times a month... And that includes me getting together with a buddy of mine once a month at starbucks just to shoot the breeze... And funny thing is, there's a starbucks less then 2 minute walking distance from my work... I'll goto starbucks once in a while if I'm in a mood for something sweet & can afford to treat myself but I don't go there on a everyday basis like that lady was saying... If the money wasn't an object, she really wouldn't be "complaining up a storm" about gas prices either but obviously money was an issue with her... Despite that, she's decided to put "starbucks coffees" on a higher priority list than getting her gas tank filled... Oh, by the way, thanks for the best response...

I do not think either should be that high! I can do without starbucks but not coffee. @Wispofcloud (108)

Well, I've never been that much of a fan of Starbucks anyway.
But I suppose that people would say that they'd rather pay $4 for gas, because that's actually the reality right now. It's not pretty, but it's what we've got for the time being. On the other hand, there's plenty of other options for a cheaper cup of coffee. $4 a cup is a horror that we don't have to think about everyday.

Who buys Starbucks by the gallon? If I had a choice, I say keep the gas cheap and send the Starbucks through the roof. Just don't raise the price of my coffee in the supermarket too much. I might have to change my opinion if that happened.

Expensive coffee is one thing I'm glad I've never been drawn to! I suspect people say they'd rather pay that amount for gas because it's the necessity?
