I know all children are different and I have three - however, both of my girls didn't get their first tooth until around 11 months, and my son is now 7 months and has just been chewing on everything. I can see the bottom two front teeth "nubs" I guess you can call it, so I'm sure those are going to come up soon. However, I also see a lot of lumps on his bottom gums - it's almost as if many teeth will come at the same time. Has that ever happened to your children? My girls just got one tooth at a time - and always got symptoms like fussiness, the runs, a slight fever, lack of appetite. I mean, I could tell when the teeth were bothering them. I just wondered if you had more than one tooth come in at a time - I'm kind of thinking this will happen with my son.

Yes my poor Sissy got both of her top two teeth in at the same time. It was really rough on her but I bought her a teething blanket and would put in the freezer when she was sleeping. It helped a lot.

Yes, I'm thinking he'll get both bottom teeth at the same time! I may get him a teething blanket as well - he likes chewing on regular blankets... actually everything he can stick in his mouth! Thanks.

I have 4 children and they all started to get their teeth at about 6 months old. It was always the two bottom teeth in the front. The signs to look for are slight fever, runny nose, fussiness, crying, chewing on everything - hands, books, toys, crib edge, etc. The best thing to do is to buy one of those teething rings you can put in the freezer or you can always dip your fingertip in whisky or brandy and that numbs the gums. They will not get drunk from that - it will not hurt them. That is an old time remedy but it does work! Remember - only a few drops on your fingertip that is all it takes. But yeah, all my kids got both of those bottom teeth at the same time. Those lumps you are talking about might just be more eruptions, kids have been known to have multiple eruptions all at once before.

Thanks Schulzie, I will probably go get a teething ring today - I haven't used one of those for a while, but he loves cold things anyway, so that would probably really help soothe his gums and he'll have fun chewing on it at the same time :-)

Hello, My son also started really drooling and chewing on his fingers around 3 months old - I'm just now seeing his gums raised in the bottom. My kids have a history of teething late though - I'll have to just wait and see though. Thanks!

my son started teething when he was 4 months and the way i knew was because he would just cry and cry and his mouth was always watery. and one day my mom felt his gums and they were extremely hot. so that's how i knew he was teething.

My little girl started teething at 3 months and didn't get her first teeth till 7 months. She has been popping up two at a time, since then. She gets fussy and always has something in her mouth to chew on. She rarely gets a fever with it. For all the teeth to come in at a time, I have never heard of it happen, but I'm sure it has somewhere.
