Anxiously waiting my cat's urine test results

I hope her bladder infection isn't too bad this time. Four years ago it got so bad, she peed a bit of blood, poor thing. Today we boarded her at the vet (we're picking her up in a couple of hours or less) and they got her urine sample, and I'm waiting very impatiently for test results. We also had them shave her butt, something they call a "sanitary shave" which helps long-haired cats in the summer. She's having a tough time cleaning herself cause of the infection. whew. We can't really afford to take her to the vet this week, but we did. Hey, we had to! Do you go all-out to make sure your pets are healthy?

Good luck with your sweet kitty. I usually spend more for my cats' health than my own. And I worry more about them as well. We have one cat now with asthma who just stopped his prednisone pills. My two girls are eating mashed French cut green beans mixed into their food to lose weight. Peaches is also taking TracEase drops to help keep her from peeing out of the box. Lots of stuff going on.

Oooh, how do they like the green beans? I might try that.

Thank you very much. I think we may have to try that for one of the cats!

Drain and rinse the green beans (French cut) several times, then mash them with a fork until they are mushy. I mix a teaspoon into their canned food, reducing the food by that amount, increasing to 2 teaspoons. I stop when the food is half beans and half food. They don't mind the beans at all, eating all their food and feeling full without the calories.

Hope your cat is going to be okay. Yes I go out of my may to make sure my pets are healthy and just last week my cat of 16.5 years had to be taken to the Vets' because she could not walk on her back legs. She is on Meds. and she has improved greatly. The cost....yes set us back a bit but rather that than the tears I had hoping she would be okay!

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. It is good to hear she's improved, though! Does she need to use one of those kitty-friendly wheelchairs now, out of curiousity?

She is walking so good now as she was before this happened so the meds. seem to be the thing that has done the trick! As I type, she has just done a "bit" in her kitty tray and has flown down the passage way (to get away from the smell I think!) So she is improved heaps!

In the last week we have spent over $500 on our cats alone. That was for them both to get their yearlys (including blood work - which was the vast majority of the cost for that visit) and for Sigil to get his teeth cleaned. Oh and for one bird to get their polyoma shot (still have 2 more to get done this month and another 2 in August and 3 birds DNA sexed soon!). Your pets are soo expensive this year. We just switched vets so they do things a bit differently. I think next visit they are not getting the blood panels done. That would have saved us $160, but sine they never had it done and Sigil needed it anyways to get anesthetic for his teeth, we decided ot get both cats done.
