Yucky food-episodes

I am not very good at hearing about people finding worms in their yogurt, or mice in the beer, or a spider in the fish-sticks. Whenever I read about things like that I cannot make myself eat that food for ages. I am really terrible about it. I have not had much of an appetite for anything but vegetables and yogurt or berries and yogurt for the longest time. Tonight I stopped eating berries. There was an insect in my raspberries. It was more than a centimeter long. I do not know what it was, but it sure was gross. Does anyone have an idea of something to eat that did not live, did not have living things on it, or did not come from a living thing? have you ever had a really horrid food episode that turned you off that food for ages? It will be good if you do not describe it too vividly

I am the same way. If I see something gross or experience it myself, I get really paranoid about all my food.

Thanks for responding! Have you found a good way of getting past things like that, or do you just wait for it to be forgotten?

Yeah, I eventually get over it. However I find that some things come back to haunt me, like how they kill cows. Yuck.

I once ate chines food and found hair in it and another time my friend found a roach. So we decided that we will stop eating chines food. Haven ate it for the year.

I understand you very well. I would not want to eat it either. Hope you've found something else that is even nicer than chinese

If I stopped eating such foods just because of some reported one-time yucky food episode, I'd ever be able to eat anything ever again, and I would be a very hungy lady. If it happens to me I'll sue whoeer sold me the foul product for every penny they're worth!

Often I am able to avoid reading or seeing or listening to those stories. I just ignore them, turn the page, or change the channel as soon as I understand what's coming. Because I really do not need anymore food that I cannot, should not, will not eat. It is a bit more difficult when it happens to me. And it is a problem.

I'm not too adventurous with food too. Here in our country, frogs, beetles, crickets, etc are a delicacy. I've never tried them. Hubby insists that frog tastes like chicken. I said, I dont care, i still know its a frog. Hahahaha. Fortunately I haven't eaten anything with a living thing inside. Eeew. I hope I never will. LOL!

Thanks for your input! I find that once I start thinking about what it is I am eating or where something comes from I just cannot make myself eat it. Bugs are not a delicacy here though. It is really gross when something that is not supposed to be anywhere near my food crawls on it

I do not like the wormy food idea. Not good at all! I have gotten sick over undercooked foods before. Not ever a nice thing.

teison2 if you lived on a farm you would probably go bananas then as almost all veggies at one time or another may have some insect hop onto them for a brief second. that is part of nature. it does not affect the food at all. if you did not know it you would have no fear of eating veggies or fruits either.I am not quite as squeamish as you, and do not let my imagination run wild or I would not be able to eat anything.to begin with whoever fixed the raspberies should have seen any insect on them and got rid of it. again if you had not seen it you would not have had a problem ,right?

Thanks for your response! I agree with you - but I still have real problems eating something after these incidents. My throat closes up. I do have a farm that we just got - and I used to live by one as a child. I know there will be bugs and insects on most everything at one point. I'll try to minimize it - but I know it's there. That I can handle. Still I do not like for food that has been prepared and are sold to me to contain things that I have not payed for. I do not want it to come in a package or be on my plate. After the food has been washed and presented or packed no bugs should come close to it.
