Another Movie I Missed Until Now - "Pushing Tin"

This is yet another movie I came across on HBO a few months ago and recorded but somehow didn't get around to watching until last night; funny how easy it is to catch up on my TV viewing when I can't be online! "Pushing Tin" was described as a dark comedy and that's a great description for a great movie that may make me a bit nervous the next time I fly and a bit more confident at the same time, if that makes any sense at all. What fantastic performances by a terrific cast; how could none of them have won an Oscar? I've certainly gotten a new respect and appreciation for Air Traffic Controllers, as if I ever needed it. I was on their side all the way back when Reagan fired them in the eighties, but I'm not posting this to have a political debate. Let's discuss not only the movie but the occupation. Is there anyone here that is or has been an air traffic controller or who knows anyone who is? I really don't think I could handle that kind of stress and pressure! These men and women literally have the lives of thousands in their hands every single day even more so than the pilots. If there's any of you reading this, Bless You and thanks! Annie

"Pushing Tin" is one of those really good movies that pretty much no one has ever heard of. Unfortunately it has been a long time since I have seen it, I mostly remember the scene with the two guys waiting at the end of the runway for the plain....you'd have to be crazy... ;)

You go that right! Does that really make you fly through the air like that? Annie

I don't know, I mean I wouldn't think so, but....hmmm, it's really hard telling. Maybe someone else here would have a more definitive answer?

Hey, I remember that movie. John Cusack is my favorite actor. And I think this movie made me admire him for his work. The movie is very interesting and hilarious. I love dark comedies like this. The stress is unbelievable. I don't think I could ever have that kind of job.

He's one of my favorites, too, actually I've just started to try to catch up on some of his movies that I'd somehow missed. I love dark comedies like that too but I like that it was also uplifting. I could never do that job! I thought working for the post office was stressful! Annie

I'm glad I'm back, too, Hon, and hugs to you! I upgraded to cable internet and after they did the installation I wasn't able to get online. The cable guy said I had to upgrade my Windows system and I wasn't able to get anywhere to get the software, lucky for me as it turns out. As it turned out the tech guy from the internet place where I've had my dial-up since I've had my computer - called The Internet Place...lol - came to my house and installed an intranet card or whatever it's called and here I am. Back to the movie, I really recommend it highly. It's amazing how some movies never make a big splash when they're released but they're really good movies. This stars John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett and I feel they were all Oscar-worthy. Annie
