How do you read

What I mean is, do you pick certain books to read because of the author or the genre? I am finishing up my literature class and that is what prompted these questions. Do you read because you like to or because you have to? What types of books do you like to read? I love to read if I am reading for pleasure. Personally, I don't care who wrote the book as long as it's a good book. What about you?

unfortunately I have never liked to read. I have tried many times to make myself read a full book. But never could make it past the third of fourth page. The only time I read is when i absolutely have to. But I do like reading articles in magazines and factual information. I like finding out new information on science today and new ideas and projects. Those things that interest me like my martial arts magazines and other magazines as well that has some fascinating stories. Short stories I can read and enjoy. I think it is because in most books that I try to get interested in they fall short in keeping me interested to want to know how it ends. I am a mystery buff, and love to figure out the who what when and where before the end of the movie.

Some people just don't like to read long stories and there is nothing wrong with that. But I will say you are missing out on a lot.

I read because I want to. I enjoy the book more and I don't have to worry about answering any questions at the end of a chapter. as to where you have to read a book, take the fun away. I really enjoy reading book that V.C. ANDREWS wrote, John Saul. When I start reading and the first page has that hold on me, I will continue to read. but if the first page sounds boring, I'll put it away and look for something else. The author has to keep me going after a couple of sentences. I also don't care who wrote the book, it has to be interesting.

I know what you mean. I hate to read when I have to. I would rather read for fun.

I choose according to the title, the cover, the story and how it reads when I start reading it! Every now and then I have to stop and give up, if the book is too boring or not what I thought it would be about!

I know what you mean. If the book is boring, I can't sit and read it.

I'll read a book for either the author or the genre. I read mostly science fiction and fanatasy, some thrillers and the occasional horror. Also a fair few non-fiction on various topics.

I like Science fiction and fantasy as well. I thought about writing a science fiction-fantasy book one day.

I am a big Stephen King and Dean Koontz fan.. I love to read for pleasure and these are the types of books that I like.. I do not like the mushy love stories but have taken to reading Debbie McComber quite a bit.. I do like hers as they are not sickenly sweet love stories.. I do read quite a bit of others but none on as much of a regular basis as the ones that I mentioned..

I know who Stephen King is but I don't know the others you mentioned. I do like most of Stephen King's work.

I used to be forced to read a lot of rubbish for about a year because I was working as a reviewer. That was perhaps the worst time in my life, though I did come across some good books during that time, so can't really complain too much. Actually that's how i got introduced to Jodi Picoult. She's actually a very good author and addresses contemporary issues very effectively and beautifully.

I started reading the books early in my life depending on the authors.I started with James Hadley Chase and.got hooked to this author because of his racy style. Then I started reading Herold Robbins as all the adolescent do.Once read Fredrick Forsyth and he is a great story teller with vivid explanations of every thing.Lawrence Sanders, Robert Ludlum and many others are my favorite.Nowadays I choose my books on reviews.

I tend to pick ooks by topic. For example, I have a wide variety o ooks about women in Muslim countries who have escaped abusive relationships, or who have done a lot for women's rights in the Muslim faith. They may be of diferent genres, but they are all about similar things. There are cases when one author might write a number of books I like, as with Jean Sasson, but that's not always the case. If it is an interesting topic, I will read it.

I read because I love it. It's the only time I can go somewhere and it not cost me anything; with the exception of the price of the book if I don't get it from the library. I can so involved in the story that sometimes I hate for the book to end. There are some authors who are such good writers and the discriptions are written so well and vivid that years later I can't remember if I read it or saw it as movie.

you know that you're going to love reading the book because you know the author and enjoyed his work... it's a big disappointment if it turned out that you really didnt like the book but you still like the author, it feels that you have been cheated ! it's also good to find a good book from an unknown author and be surprised that you enjoyed it! and next time you visit the bookstore you'll be looking for some of his other works as well !
