If the dead beat collects SSI he/she is excused from paying child support, but they get to buy a house. This is wrong on so many levels.

I had never knew that a person who collected SSI would be excused from paying child support. I have an issue with getting my son's father to pay child support and he does not have the SSI excuse.

When I asked about it I was told it was welfare and my kids weren't entitled.

That does not seem fair to the kids at all. Sorry to hear that you and your children have to deal with that type of thing.

Hi irish. Is it your child's father that is on SSI? Because if so, i do not know who told you but they told you wrong. I filed for disability because of an injury to my lower back and therefore I can't work anymore. But they asked me if i wanted to file for ssi because i have a son. So i did. I also found out on the Social Security website that if one parent is on disability and are getting payments, then the child(ren) can to which it called it the social security income. So, i have no clue if this is what you are talking about, but i hope it helps in some way.
