Tooth fairy payout is rising!

July 3, 2008 5:02am CST
Children get on average about £1.22 for each tooth - 16 per cent rise on last year. payouts now total £23million annually, The Children's Mutual group said. How much did you get from the tooth fairy when you were a kid?? I think I got about 50p for a tooth. People I work with they leave £1 and to me that seems to much to give to a child because there tooth came out. How much do you give your children?

I only got about .50 cents from the tooth fairy when I was little. My son got $1 that is what my daughter will get when she starts losing her teeth too she hasn't lost any yet though.

$1 is about 50p to me so I think thats reasonable. I dont think the 'price' of teeth should rise just because everything else is rising. How will children learn the concept of money and the value of it if they are given alot of money for one tooth!! I think it is fair that your daughter gets the same amount as your son when he lost his teeth!! Thank you for your response.

When I was a kid, I think it was about 50p too. I now have to give mine £1, I have to give them that because they would not get much for 50p nowadays!

i believe i got $1 for a tooth as a kid. may have been .50cents though lol! ive always given my girl $1 per tooth..with the cost of things being higher than when i was a kid, a whole dollar USED to get her a pack of gum or a candybar..now it sometimes gets a candybar, and never a pack of gum!
