potato chips? I have made my own French fries before, but I have never tried making my own potato chips. Have you ever tried making your own? How did they come out?

Well, I used to slice potatoes into thin slices and fry them instead of doing something like mashed potatoes or french fries with dinner. The thinner ones would come out crispy like potato chips, so I started doing them like they. They were good. I would sprinkle them all with Tony Chachere's cajun seasoning, so they were just a little spicy. I haven't made them in a while, but now that I have a new Fry Daddy, I just might have to try making them again.

My brother makes them out of sweet potatoes and sprinkles them with cajun seasoning. I have never had them, but he swears that they are awesome.

I am addicted to Tony's seasoning. My best friend hooked me on it and now I have two containers in my spice cabinet. I have also had sweet potato fries and they are good, I didn't make them myself, I got them frozen premade at Costco but we all liked them.

I would try those because they do sound good, but my husband hates sweet potatoes, so I'm the only one who would eat them. I'm sure the sweet potato chips would also be really good with a bit of cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them instead of cajun seasoning.

We used to make home fries. Basically to make home fries, you peel your potato, slice into small sections and boil it until almost done. Then cool potato in cold water. Dab off the water. Then pan fry the potato slices or pieces in hot oil on the stove top. It's a really easy thing to do. But the oil is likely to spark or splatter as the potato has bits of water on it. It tastes crispy when done and looks beige or slightly brownish. Very yummy! Now I'm hungry for some.

My grandma fried her potatoes in half oil and half margarine. They came out really good every time.

I used to make a breakfast dish which included shredded potato. I haven't made it in a long time but I would peel and shred a fresh potato into a hot pan after I'd cooked bacon in it. I'd cook up the shredded potato until it started getting a little crispy. Then I'd remove it and scramble up some eggs, add cheese and veggies, then when almost done, I'd fold in the shredded potatoes and crumbled bacon and add about a tablespoon of cream cheese. Really really good!

No I haven't made my own. I take the simple way out. I buy mine from the grocery store. Making my own may be healthier though.

I've never made my own potato chips but I bet they would be good =) I used to do thick steak cut type fries out of fresh potatoes in my deep fryer and then I would make poutine - I'd drain and season the fries, make onion gravy and cover the fries with onion gravy and shredded cheese. If I do try making chips, I won't make them plain. I'll season them up good with garlic, pepper, Tony's seasoning, and some parmesan. Then I'll probably mix up some fiesta spicy ranch dip to serve them with. My daughter made fresh cinnamon sugar tortilla chips before - she fried up pieces of flour tortilla in oil and then shook the chips in cinnamon sugar in a brown paper bag. They were really good!

I did make some potato chips the other day in fact. I made a yummy veggie burger at home a little while ago and thought I would do some chips to go with it. It turned out really well.
