I just handed over my resignation to my manager. Resigning is really the one thing that i hate doing.. i mean the actual handing over the letter and telling your boss that "i resign." You dont know what would be the reaction of your boss, will he take it well or not? But heck, we've got to move forward with our career. Good thing my boss was understanding and our talk went smoothly. How about you guys, any of you have experienced resigning from a job? Was it pleasant?

I'm glad you got up the courage to resign and open the door for new opportunities. I resigned once because I was moving away to get married - and once when I was leaving to stay at home and look after my baby. Both times were easy! I wish you all the best with your new job!

Your reason for resignation is uncommon i guess. Usually people resign to transfer to another job but in your case it's for your family. good luck to you too and thanks for your comment.

Actually I never think of what my boss would feel if I would resign. I just hand the letter and thats it. It is a career move so your boss can only do two things, one is to match the offer you got or let you go.:)

I had a hard time breaking from anything. When a relationship got boring I would make a mess of myself and make her break up with me. When a job got bad, it would be hard for me to walk away. With my current job, I know the boss would take it well and the rest of my staff would only laugh and tell me they would see me in the morning. It would be such a trat for me not to come back.

I never got a chance to resign after twenty three years at thelibrary I asked for a leaveof absence so I could have surgery and instead she let me go, nice wayof saying you are fired, or you are canned, her wail was she did not want to do this, she hated doing this yak yak but I have to let you go,her excuse, you are almost eiighty, well now so what, I did the work, I shelved books and all media and she had said I was her best worker, office politics, the new second in command had told my boss either you fire hatley or I quit, so guess who got to quit, age discrimination but it was the county so what could I do?Retired againstmy will okay so now I mylot. lol.
