Do you sometime have second thought when answering a newbie's discussion?...

Most of the time i do... since a lot of them get deleted after a day or two... i just do not know why... because i don't see any mylot violation... So right now... i am very careful when choosing or responding to a discussion started by a member who has less than 200 post beside his/her username... i don't want to wast my time in effort in responding to a discussion that will eventually be deleted... I wonder why this sort of thing is happening... do you think a new rule should be set for new members?... a rule that says... they can only start discussion when they reach their 100th post... what advantages and disadvantages would that bring to the mylot community?...

I just post to whatever I find that interests me. I don't pay attention to if they are a newbie or not. I'm still sort of one myself. LOL I was one who had a post deleted - for no reason that I can tell since I didn't break any TOS rules. My post was on the topic of the increase in violence in the world. I do tend to avoid some posts, usually if its a topic I'm not comfortable with or one I'm not familiar with.

Discussion of new members are quite prone to deletion... since some of them have been started by the old one already... but there are some which are quite unique... but i don't understand why your discussion about the violence in the world was deleted... thanks for the response...

That is the right attitude... well maybe i should not be bothered with deleted discussions to since there are like millions of others that we can all respond to... thanks for the response...

I respond to discussions based on the content of the discussion and whether I have something to say or not. It really does not matter to me if the person posting the discussion is a newbie or not. On the other hand I am of the impression that if the newbie is here for the longterm then seeing responses and especiallyfrom people who are more experienced will encorage them to become more active.

There are some discussions started by newbies that are very good to respond to... and if they respond to mine... i always welcome them and encourage them to stay... but most of them only last a day or two... since the pennies we earn do not appeal to them... thanks for the response...

I didnt know they deleted newbie's discussions,I reponded to what I feel I can contribute to. If members could only start discussions after 100 post that wouldnt seem fair,I havent been here all that long myself but I think everyone should have the same chances. You have a great night.

Some discussions get deleted... i just do not know why... but i guess it will indeed be unfair if they are not allowed to start discussions... but that rule would also be a way for them to be familiar with the do's and don't of posting discussions... thanks for the response...

I notice a lot of the newbie discussions are there to fetch in responses to generate revenue although there are many that are genuine as well. So I pick which to respond as some if you're observant enough the few "friends" they have might turn out to be their doppleganger fiends a.k.a. multiple accounts as their IDs are so similiar? AHahah

It is difficult to identify those with multiple accounts... and only mylot have a way of knowing who they are... so when they are caught... even thought they started good discussions... all are deleted... and our time and effort are wasted... thanks for the response...

True, it's time & effort wasting, sometimes hard to identify which are multiples. But some are real obvious - the style of writing, the ID nearly the same & all. Anyway, it's too muc a waste of time to speculate as well but if I see the likes of a multiple I'll just pass Happy mylotting

Yeah, there is no obvious standard or rules here in mylot,i think it both has advantages and disadvantages. The former ,i think is that:everybody can be active and with great desire to post more and response more with their own mind,so that mylot can be more and more strong day by day, mylotters also benefit. The latter,i think is that:If there's no standard, mylot will be more disordered, everyone can be free and easy, the most shortage is we just don't know why our discussion been deleted as you said. That will make us gloomy.

I agree... there might be a shortage of new discussions to respond to if newbies will only be allowed to start discussions when they reach the 100th post... and that might certainly make mylot a gloomy place... thanks for the response...

I have never given a thought if the discussion was deleted or not for users under 200 or not. I never had any of my discussions deleted when I was first starting out here on mylot and if the number of discussions get deleted that are under 200 then how does one get their numbers up? I think you have to be careful what discussions you respond to. I have seen a lot of discussions that break the rules not be deleted and some that to me should not break the rules get deleted. Go figure who gets deleted and who does not.

You are very lucky that you never experienced any deletion of your discussions... i had some when i was still new here... or even when i was not so new... but now i am very careful in starting discussions... but some newbies actually have multiple accounts... so even if they start good discussions... most or all are eventually deleted... thanks for the response...

Having multiple accounts is wrong, wrong, wrong, I think there should be a black on the same IP address. I know some people want two accounts thinking they will make more money and answer their own discussions. But they are only cheating their selves.

Well this is an interesting idea. I answer newbies discussions when I can to get them more into the flow of things and get them into the group. I think their chances are better of staying when we respond to their discussions. So I'm working with the system in place by doing that I guess. Now I'm not talking about those newbie one liners or questions about making money. Those folks have the wrong idea of course. Considering it from another angle, it might not be a bad idea to require participation before starting a discussion. If the person enjoys the discussions, they'll enjoy starting them too. That's what I did when I first started anyway. I wanted to see how to go about participating in discussions before I started one.

Hello aseretdd, I agree with you if there is a rule to say that newbies can only start discussion after they reach their 100th post. That's a good idea. I seldom respond to newbies as I am very busy responding to my never ending friends' discussions *smiles* But if I do have the time to do so, I will see what kind of topic they started. Most of them like to start a one liner and I remember one time, a newbie who started all her (it's 'her' I think...) discussions with 'What if...." I responded to a few "What if..." but after that, I get tired of the same question and ignore the rest of the discussions.

You are like the first person who agreed with me on this matter... i received a lot of not so nice comments... and i am glad you saw the advantage of having such a rule... but i also agree with some... this might discourage people from joining mylot... so i don't think the admin will impose it... thanks for the response...

Hello aseretdd, I understand how it feels when you are under attack though it never happened to me before. I agree with you because I think it is the best way for them to learn. We too, been there once. As for myself, when I was new here, I keep responding and responding non-stop. I just like it that way and when I learned 'enough' (I mean, the rules here and the meaning of 'enough' here is very abstract and it depends on your own definition when do you think it is enough for you to start something new), I started my own discussion. I do understand that as seniors, we are supposed to welcome and encourage them. We have different reasons to be here and I think the ones who look for money or more referrals for their other making money sites, are tend to do start any kind of discussions. But then again, not only newbies do that and again and again, not all people think like that. Whatever it is dear friend, we can satisfy all people. Whether you agree or disagree, you have the right to give your opinion but, never attack other because of different opinions *winks*

I didn't realize that they get deleted that much. Someone has to encourage them and welcome them in. If everyone shyed away from them, they'd have a very hard time getting started. I don't have a problem with posting on their discussions or responding to them. If it gets deleted it is no big deal....its pennies. When I started here, everyone welcomed me in and gave me great advice and made me feel at home. If they seem sincere...sure, i'll respond. why not?

I'm a newbie and I'm glad that I'm able to post. Sometimes people have something good to say or a decent question thats worth answering. I wouldn't not answer just because they are a newbie, because everybody is a newbie once and I'm not sure because I have not been here long but if a newbie could not post only respond, whats to say they still won't say something that will get the whole post deleted like for example trying to get referrals for other paying sites on one of yours or another members discussion. Now I can say that I have seen people with like 2 posts offering to sign you up to some money making scheme and they are only here to get referrals, that I do not like. Just my opinion. Everybody brings something new to the community and I for one am glad to be here. (with the freedom to post) :)

the number of newbie's posts as a basis for replying to his discussion i believe isn't fair... i am a newbie, and honestly i still don't know how things go around here, but discussions that gets deleted might not be a newbie's fault at all unless they, i mean we, really goofed up ;)

Some discussions are deleted because they violate a certain rule... some newbies do not bother to read the mylot guidelines... so they create discussions that contain one or two violations... and they end up being deleted... but some are deleted because they are done by newbies who have multiple accounts... i know it is unfair... but this is just a matter of voicing out one's opinion... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

thanks for the welcome! yes, I'm enjoying my stay here so far and have met nice people (like you) with whom I've had healthy discussions with. I must admit reading the rules can be a bit tiresome, but if one should stick to the basic of courtesies, I'm sure he won't break any rules even without knowing them.

I have no second thought. The seniors have to support them to give them greater exposure and confident. Remember we were once there struggling to find our way up.

I did not know that posts were deleted after a day or two, that just does not seem right, well maybe I will be back up to a good number of posts before long, I am going to try to post at least fifty every few days if I can. and I have been posting discussions and responding to discussions all day today plus rating a lot of the thing I have read. anyway, it looks like you have a lot of posts. Hope you have a great day/

I think it would not be too wise a thing. Some newbies can make really good discussions even if they have only forty or fifty points. we are assuming that all newbies write discussions that are deleted and that s just not true. a lot of those deleted are from people that have been here awhile.no that rule would really discourage a lot of people and would single out new comers.
@aseretdd (13730)

Yes, this was pointed out by many old members... having that rule would discourage newbies into staying... especially those who make very nice discussions... but it was just a thought... and there is always room for an exchange of opinions here in mylot... thanks for the response...

I haven't noticed that. Oh, it's nice to see your post to know this. I think, if I 'm a newbie I will not agree to can start a discussion after 100th post. It's really very hard to me to reach 100th post, and if I really want to start a discussion, I can't stop to do it. So maybe some newbie will quite, this really limited their activity on this forum, every forum could post and start discussion.

Well, I can tell you this I am new been on here for 3 days so far. I have started a few discussions and none of them has been deleted at all. No I do not think that is should be a new rule that newbies aren't allowed to start discussions until their 100th post. There is alot of people on here when they first get on that needs help with the site and thats why they are starting discussions. And if people cannot start a discussion until their 100th post I dont think alot of people will join. Or they will stay on until they get there to 100 post because its nothing to get that many. If it bothers you so much when a newbie starts a new discussion then dont read it and dont respond to it. I also think that it is not always the new people getting their discussions deleted. i think that there is a few people on here who has been on here for a while has had one deleted on them even you more in likely.

Hello. So I guess I am a newbie. I was actually googling "preemie baby" and a link to this site pulled up. I found an interesting discussion on what I was looking for. I joined so I could ask questions and find information. I didn't even know about making money until I was on here for an hour or so. I actually thought maybe this site was "phishing" or something so I started researching and found that it is legit. I didn't come here looking for money, I came for the conversation and to possibly make friends with people of the same interest. I don't think I've done anything that would warrant me getting deleted. I'm still new and learning. I've read the rules and plan to abide by them. I hope to find some friendly people on here.
