The ones in the leaderboards are the most active members who post in a particular interest. After you have reached your 100th post, you will then know what your ranking is in a particular interest. If you would look at others who have more than 100 post to the right of their usernames, you will see their rankings in a particular interest (for example: "54" out of "240000" in "mylot.com", 54 is your ranking, 24000 is the number of member who have mylot.com as their interest) The lower the number the higher your ranking.
In order for you to achieve higher rankings (and thus higher leveling) you should be an active participant in a certain interest. You should start discussions and respond to other discussions in that particular interest.
