I got her when she was five weeks old and had been abused. She was an 'Aussie'. Her name was Casey. She lived until 14. Her sight had failed and hips not working. She couldn't climb the stairs anymore or even go down a little curb while out side. She was my protector and had a 'sense' of good and bad people. She always sensed something and let me know. I miss her dearly. There will never be another. I had her cremated and keep her on my book case in my room. And for Casey...it is never goodbye...I will see you later my dear friend.

I am so sorry to hear about Casey. I understand how you feel. We become attached to our pets, love them and they love us unconditionally in return and they are part of our family. I know you can never replace Casey but I hope one day you can find another one to love.

Thank you. And there will never be another, you're right. Don't laugh...I had her cremated and I keep her in my room on my bookshelf. She always slept on the floor beside my bed. I told her it is not goodbye, 'I'll see you later'. Thank you...Janet

Hello JTerrasi, Oh, I'm so sorry about your Casey, no she is not far away, her spirit is always with you, watching over you and protecting you, although I have two cats now, about twelve yearrs ago I lost my cat Roly to cancer, but I still sense him around me and some time I get a feeling he just jumped on my lap none of my cats do that they play hard to get, so my dear yes Casey is still with and be happy and smile. Your friend Tamarafireheart.

Thank you for writing and caring. Like you, I feel sometimes Casey is in my room at night. That is where she slept each night, beside my bed. I have rescued a vat and her name is Cali. Casey would have loved her. Thank you again, J

I know how it feels to lose a good friend and companion. I love dogs. Right now, i have three of them in the house. They are really great and they are always very reliable. They keep me and my little boy company while my husband goes to the office.

I think I would like another one but it is just when I see a 'cute' one. The feeling quickly passes. 14 years was a long time for us to have such a bond. She was closer to me than any of the others in the family. I know she is there with my Dad and waiting for me. I will see her again. My 'Casey dog'. Take care, J

I am sorry for you loss. I know what it is like to lose a loved companion. I lost my little dog just before Christmas, she was 13, and I nearly lost our other dog in Feb but he pulled through, he is only 4. It is always sad when they go but you know that they are waiting for you and will be there when you go to join them. Well I believe that. I know that there will never be another Casey but one day you might find a new puppy and take her home and love her just as much. Each one is different and we can love more than one in a lifetime. I have loved all my dogs with all my heart and yet I cannot imagine living life without a dog by my side. It always breaks my heart when they go and they are never forgotten but I know that one day I will bring a new puppy home and love her just as much but she will never replace the one that has gone. One day you might find a new girl to share your life.

I know she will be waiting for me. As well as I know she is here with me when I am feeling down. There will never be another Casey but another one who will need me as much as I need her. We'll see. Sorry for your loss also. It is hard to let go of a friend. And she was my best friend ever....My Casey dog! Thank you for writing me. Janet

Hi, Im sorry casey is no more and was really touched to read how much she was a part of your life. We get so attached to our pets that losing them causes a lot of heartache. Fond memories help us cherish the times we spend with them. I know of many people who decided not to have any more pets after the demise of one that they were extremely attached to.

I love my dogs too the same way you love yours. My parents encourage me to leave the country to work in Canada after I graduate.I want to bring the dogs along but it would be expensive as they too will need a passport and they also have to be vaccinated again.Well,I hope every thing would be better for our country so I won't have to go.By the way,my dogs are 11 yrs old now.

My Pug - My new pug
I did post about my dog Shana. She is pictured in my avatar lying on the chair, kissing my other dog, Mandy. She was also my steadfast companion and best friend who knew when I was sad or sick and stuck by my sad whenever I was not feeling well. She passed away early this year and, like you, I had her cremated. She now sits in my garden inside a special stone. This was her favorite spot in her later years when the sun would warm her bones. I missed her so much that I got a new pug named Sookie. She is in no way a replacement for my other dog, but she is learning to be a good companion just the same. My sympathies to you for your loss.

Some people have laughed when I told them I had her cremated. But she was one of 'my kids'. Casey knew some how when I was sad or not feeling well. I couldn't watch her suffer any longer. She would just look at me but it was like she was saying, help me. I miss her and still say goodnight Casey every night. Thank you again, J

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Some people don't understand how heartbreaking it is to lose a pet, but it's a blow when you lose someone who's given you unconditional love and companionship for so many years. It sounds like you gave her a great life with many memories.

It is so very hard to lose a pet. I've lost a number of them over the years. None any easier than the others. I get so attached so quickly too. Sometimes they don't even have to be MY pet for me to be attached. There are stray cats that I feed here. One black cat has been coming for about a week. I can tell he is stray rather than feral. He will let me pet him but so far I can't pick him up. Unfortunately he has an injured leg. I've tried to catch him so I can contact animal control, but no luck. Apparently I'm going to have to ask for a live trap to catch him. Its sad because I know they will put him down. If I didn't have so many other pets, and if I could afford medical treatment I'd probably adopt him. As my mom always said, you can't save them all. But I'd sure like to try!

I did adopt an abused cat...her name is cali. My daughter brought her home. The vet said she probably wouldn't make it. She was so badly beaten. She had lay for days and the flies had got to her. It was a very long recovery. With lots of love and caring she made it. She is my sweetheart. My Cali cat. Casey would have loved her as much as I do. I too would save them all if I could. Thank you for taking the time to write me. This has been quite an experience my first day on here. Have a wonderful night. J

I had to let her go. I know she was in a lot of pain. It killed me to listen to her cry when she tried to get up and would fall. I will be with her again. Thank you so much for writing. There are a lot of caring people on here and I appreciate all of the comments I have gotten. J
