Do you have a Horse and what kind is it? Do you let you child or a child ride it. I am thinking about getting a brown neglected race horse from a refuge farm. Have any one worked with these kinds of Horses? It hasnt been raced in three years. Do you think this will be a good horse? If I dont take him he might be put down.

I do not have my own horse yet, but I am currently leasing a gorgeous bay TB named Tea Clipse. [For anyone wondering, no, that is not him as my avvie. I am still working on getting one of him.] But back to your question, yes. At my barn, there are many OTTB's, and they have made amazing event horses. I would not stop you from buying that horse, but I will say this: it is a major responsibility. You have to have a lot of money from the start to be able to pay for everything he needs, keeping in mind the additional care from his neglect. [Extra vet, farrier, and dentist fees, and well as weight supplements and other special care supplies.] You will also have to put a great deal of time and effort into training him. What most people who buy horses to fix up don't realize is that it takes so much time. They think that they can just ride and everything will be okay. The horse really needs to have a good trainer with the commitment. Know now that it will not always be fun, and you may get tired of it. Also, you don't know if the horse will be good or not. Even with proper training, there is a big possibility that he would not be what you want. In the end, it would be a huge loss of money and you would have to find someone to take him anyway. I am not saying that something good will not happen, you just can never tell. If you are lot an experienced horse handler and rider, I would not suggest buying the horse. Good luck in your decision, however!

No, I do not have a horse. First of all I dont have no where to put one, but if I did I would get one. My 7 year old daughter is absolutely in love with them. I wish I knew how to take care of them and had one. We would love to ride.
