Ok so a week and five days ago i went to the hospital because I woke up out of a dead sleep with chest pain a 10/10. It was a sharp stabbing pain that went to my back. So when I went to the hospital of course they did all of the cardiac tests and kept me overnight. Well every test they did on my heart came back negitive. So the doctor though it was muscular. Of course I was on alot of medications for the pain. When i was coming of the meds in the hospital I felt the pain starting in my back instead of my chest underneath my shoulder. The doctor explained it was more of a charlyhousre underneath my shoulder. So i came home and the pain wont go away. I have been on muscle rlaxers that does not help and pain killers. I have tried Ice packs and heating pads. I have gone back to regular activity. I have even been streching hoping that it wound strech the knot out. With no help. Then when the pain meds wear off the sharp pain comes back. Does anyone on here have any idea any at all that will get this knot out of my back underneth my shoulder blade?

How is your ability to breath? I'm thinking (NOTE: I'm not a doctor but my hubbs' cousin just recently went through this about a month back) spontaneous lung collapse. The triggers are being tall, heavy lifting for work, heavy smoker status and a slew of other triggers. It happens without warning and without any real reason at times. 30% of people who it does happen to, it recurs and when it does, it mean surgery to fix the problem, the other 70% it requires minimal medical intervention, only a chest tube (that you can go home with) bed rest, no heavy lifting for awhile and time off work. I say get yourself back into the emergency room and ask for a chest x ray to rule out spontaneous lung collapse.

Could it possibly be gall bladder pain? http://www.gallbladderattack.com/ The pain you describe, going from front to back and in the area of your shoulder blade is what made me think this is a possibility.

We think alike! My post below (before I read yours here) describes how I dealt with this too - and most of it was gallbladder pain.

acupuncture may help - Sometime old world ways are the best way to go or try
Try getting another doctor to look at you sometimes what one doesn't see the other will take the time to dig further into the matter. It isn't good to have to be on pain meds for they are addicting. My sister use to have a pain like this and ended up in the hospital and it was her gall bladder. You can try acupuncture sometime this works. But really if the pain is that bad I would get a second opinion.

I would advice you to go back to the hospital and explain that the treatment that they subscribed is not working and see if they can give you anything else or ask to be referred to a specialist, because in hospitals most people are generalised in all areas rather than knowing a lot and being specialised in one and that might be the sort of help that you need.

Sounds like a traped nerve and for that I recommend deep tissue massage. Worked for me once - and that was a sort of frozen shoulder thing too.

Hi hon, so sorry about your pain. There must be a reason for the charlyhorse. It almost sounds to me like you might have a swollen or bulging disc in your spine that is irritating some nerves. I'm not a doctor but I've had back problems my whole life and "pinched" nerves can wreck havoc on your every part of your body. You might want to go to a chiropractor ASAP. If the hospital can't find the problem then a chiropractor might be able to pinpoint the problem. I wish you the best and hope this stops for you very soon. Hugs

I am so sorry you have the pain. I have woke during the night with a pain like you discribed but as soon as I got up it went away. I think I was sleeping so hard in the same position that I caused the charlie horse myself. I don't know what you can do to relieve the pain....I just hope you get better soon!

When I get muscle knots in my back I stand under a warm shower unil the muscles loosen. if this does not help I think you should see an orthopedic doctor who can really figure out what your exact problem is. there has to be a cause for a muscle knot or whatever in that particular spot and it needs a physican to figure it out.
