Next year my Spanish class is going to Argentina and I have 8 months to make about 5 thousand dollars NZD - New Zealand Dollars which is about 3800 USD. So far all I can seem to do is sell fund raising chocolate. Any money-making ideas?

Have fun in Argentina! I went to Spain with my Spanish Class/Club. We did lots of fundraising. We sold a lot of things (cookbooks, sandwiches, cookie dough etc). Another thing we did was at Christmas time, a local department store let us set up a table and donated christmas wrap to us and we wrapped christmas presents that people bought at the store and they donated money to us for it. I put up a jar in a local convenience store that said I was trying to get money to go overseas. I didn't make much money doing that, but every little bit helps. One thing I didn't try, but others did, was writing a letter and sending it out to local businesses. Tell them that you are trying to get the money to go to Argentina and you'd like to know if they would like to donate any money to you. This was just a suggestion that the company we went to Europe with gave us. Another suggestion I got (again, though, I DIDN'T do it) was to call up a local newspaper. Ask them if they would like to like sponsor you. Tell them you would write a news article when you get back about your trip for their paper if they would donate some money to help you get there. I didn't do this, so Idon't know if it works...just one of the suggestions a teacher gave us.

Well, how old are you? If you're over 16 in the US, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding jobs to apply for in your area. Look for jobs at retail places, at coffee shops and McDonald's, if you have to. A job's a job, and you only have to do it for a couple of months if you want. Look on craigslist.org in your area for other, briefer opportunities. Some ideas that come to mind are babysitting, the usual mowing-the-lawn-for-the-neighbors business (if you're in an area with lots of lawns that need mowing, anyhow), or maybe holding signs/handing out flyers on the streets for a new business. Good luck to you; I hope that helps, and have fun on your trip!

Yeah...I really don't want to have to get a job but I guess I'll have to if I can't get enough money. Also, I'm not sure if those places will be looking for employees right now with less people eating out. Everyone still loves McDonalds though, right? :P Thanks for the good luck and that site! I'll see if I can find anything on there!

Bottle drive. Get a bunch of people in your class together, split up, and go door-to door. Our marching band did a few of these to raise money for a trip to Disney World, and it was easy to make $75-100 a person each trip.
