in cases that the defendant has asked for a jury trial? also is it better or worse for a person who is charged with a hit and run to ask for a jury trial.
Does it normally take years? and why is someone allowed to continue driving after having been charged with a hit and run motor vechical death? should they not be told they can not drive at least until the trial date?

that would be saying they are guilty before they have been tried. Why would they take thier license away if they have not been found guilty? The defendant can ask for a quick trial and have it over in a couple of months, other times things run on for years. All depends on his lawyer and which way he believes is better.
