Yes, I guess my answer was too general. What I meant was sharing of trivial things. And it depends on what extent the people involve would like to go with their information sharing.
It's true sometimes, it's dangerous because I even witness here some people would post with just the thought of information sharing in mind but other people may get enraged and become rude and then the fight starts. And it's just one possibility of information sharing. But talking about friendship online, people have to be really careful with what they are entering into with their online activities. It's not always dangerous to have friends online as long as people are cautious on what they're sharing.

Well a nice question indeed but the answer is simple.
Making friends is a hobby for many people like me and there is nothing really wrong in and there is nothing to worry about it also but there is only one problem that some of the user are facing these days that the friendship that these people are making leads them to some thing really stupid attractions like s*x.
Who can any one do things like just because you are chatting with someone that doesn't make it all. you need to know about the persons and then do what ever you want. Recently there was an incident like this in orkut where a boy having good background was attracted by some kidnapers using a girls name and they finally trapped him and then their parents where forced to pay a huge amount despite of that the boy was killed.
Internet Friends are good but they are to be upto some limit and you should not cross your limits.

i think you take that chance making friends anywhere anymore whether it's on the internet, out in the world etc. i think you are in more danger if u want to call it that out in the world meeting people face to face.

It's nice to make internet friends if they make you happy and you can trust them. However, it worries me that young people are making friends with people who are not what they seem - nasty old men pretending to be young boys, for instance, in order to trap vulnerable young girls into horrible things. If I were a parent of young children, I would be very vigilant as to who they were making friends with in chat rooms. For adults, I think making internet friends can be lots of fun if we are sensible and honest and don't necessarily believe everything we're told by 'new' friends. I'm not saying we should be deeply suspicious of everyone, but it's true there are some strange people out there in internet land, and I do think we have to be careful about giving out personal details and information.
